hi i am new to photgraphy and i just recieved my canon 400D the other day but even with cleaning the lens there is spots on my pictures! what do i need to clean to get rid of these marks ? i know its a stupid question but as i said i have only just bought it and dont know the technical asspect of photography yet!

what ISO are you running on, the higher the iso the bigger the spots (grain) is

i changed it but was generaly on 200 or 1600 (when i started) that could explain why some pictures dont have the black grain

Could you show us an example of a spotty picture? then we can advise wether it's dust or noise.

Sorry mate but that is dust on the sensor, I think. You need to clean the sensor. The dust is easily spotted at higher f numbers. When changing lenses you need to be careful so you limit the amount of dust entering the camera. Otherwise you will have to clean the sensor a lot more.

There are many tools and methods to cleaning the senor dependent upon the camera make. So best to search for the method best suited to your camera.

Try giving it a blow (with a blower) before spnding a lot of cash on a proper cleaning system.
