Hello,
im new to photography, and decided to buy a 30d and couple of lens to dabble with. Everything seems messed up when viewing in lightroom, theres patchy blacks and seems noisey to hell. Changing from PhotoRGB makes things better, i just took a quick test shot and uploaded the CR2 file. Can someone open the file and see if its my camera or conversion/monitor.

taken with canon 10-22,

I dont know what im doing wrong:shrug:

Well I couldnt see anything wrong with it...........so I loaded it into Lightroom, and here is the screen shot of that.
Apart from the blacks being a bit dark, and will need adjustments, the photo itself is perfect quality.........no noise etc.

if this still looks wrong, then maybe its your monitor, although noise wouldnt be anything to do with your monitor.

Well to be honest you have taken the shot through a window and that doesnt help one bit, Also the subject matter is really dull but other than a dust bunny on your sensor I can't see a lot wrong here.

Try getting out on location and take something a little more interesting..

And clean your sensor..:bonk:

Dust bunny marked..

EDIT: Damn beaten to it by Janice.

A quick RAW conversion and all looks good to me, apart from the sensor blob BB pointed out, unless it's something on your window of course :)

where do you think you are seeing the noise? I couldnt see any? did you brighten up the blacks too much...there is likely to be noise seen in there after doing that..but the sky wasnt noisey. (until the planes came past!) :D

I know its a stupid question, but is your display set to 32 bit? With you saying patchy blacks....

wow thanks guys for testing out for me, i think its my monitor needs calibrating. I did notice the dust and fixed that with a rocket blower thing, lol.

Il try take few more pictures, i know the picture is dull and boring, but i wanted a test picture :P.

But seriously thanks for being really helpful and taking the time to try resolve my issues ( although that could take a lifetime:p )

At moment, if i edit any pictures from lightroom and use the embedded profile of 'PhotoRGB' the colour pallet for white becomes yellow, but if i disregard embedded profile things tend to be alot better. Anyone be kind enough to point out what im doing wrong.

Thanks guys/girls etc..

:)
