new camera opinions

Hi guys,
I'm possibly looking for a new camera (well, 2nd hand). I have the possibilty of a Sony A700 with a 16-80 Carl Zeiss lens or I was thinking of a Canon 5D body.

I only have an 18-55mm EF lens so would be without lenses if I went for the 5D. I understand the advantages of full frame vs crop.

I think the Sony is an awesome camera but my friend uses the 5D and he gets some astonishing images from it. Mind you, he also uses L glass.

So what do you reckon?

Go and have a play with the A700 in jessops and see what you think of it.

Sounds like you may already have a Canon body - if you like and know the way that handles and the controls on it then I would go with the 5D. For me the 5D would be my choice as it offers better resale potential and lens range.

Thanks for the reply, dude I work for Jacobs, I aint going to go to Jessops if you know what I mean...
Yeah, I have a 350D so the layout is different, what gets me about the Sony is that it performs well in all areas and can have CZ glass fitted, even if it is limited in availablilty...

Decisions...

Basically, if I get the Canon, I'll be lensless for a while because the 18-55mm is an EF-S lens so won't fit on the 5D, which I just remembered as I pressed send on this post.
