New Camera - D750 or D810 ?

So who is a good UK supplier ?

Wex Photographic or someone else

I see Nikon are offering a 2 year warranty - but that is not that relevant to me as I pay for the extended Nikon warranty anyway which covers everything (inc accidents) for as long as I pay it

There's a deal on a Currys if you look, £150 and 10% cashback through quidco

Hmmm interesting I think I still have a quidco account - thanks

So do I have to search for Currys on the Quidco site ? I have an account with Quidco but never really used it

Yeah fair enough but the camera is the same price as others so might as well take a punt and then maybe Even get £100 in the pocket as a nice little surprise in the future

Agreed. It's worth a go. But Curry's wouldn't be my choice for after sales.

Oh right what happened.... I did have a camera from them years back and I had their "whatever happens" warranty and my camera had a fault that they could not fix so they give me the original money back I paid for it when the camera was 3 years old

D750 is an awesome camera, especially in low light, have had mine for just over a year now and love it!

This is a great thread, as I am going through the same dilemma myself.

750 or 810?

like the handiness of the 750, but also the MP of the 810. Asking myself which I would be most likely to want to upgrade in 2 years. I would be willing to pay more to know that I would be happy with that camera 4 years down the road. Money is hard to come by. I am retiring in 2 years and I am not sure if I could afford a new camera at that point.

Yeah I was the same and I had read and watched loads of reviews before I even posted this thread as I wanted final expert raw opinions like you get on here..... People on here tell you like it is :)

I have the D610 have shot many weddings with it and my customers are very happy with the results and so am I but sometimes the D610 can hesitate or even refuse to lock on focus in low light and for a wedding that is not good so that was the main reason for me to get another camera (keep D610 as backup)

I have read that the D750 is excellent in low light focus but there are other surprising benefits like the high ISO performance is way better than the D610 and the D610 is good at high ISO

Take a look using this tool at the differences between the cameras also the D810 which is surprising

I have now ordered the D750 :)

Thanks for the info.

I am deep-sixing my Canon 7d, lenses and associated gear and switching to Nikon. I shoot events, weddings, engagements, etc. - Much of which is in less than optimal light conditions. i hate having to compromise by having to decrease the aperture (edit - need to clarify that I am talking about going a lower aperture setting than f8, to perhaps f5.6, f2.8 and lower) (edit - or relying on flash) because my current camera does not handle low light conditions well.

Like you, I have done much internet, soul and pocket searching on the best Nikon products. At 6 ounces lighter, the 750 promises to be easier for me to heft and use.

Can I ask I have just bought a 750 and wanted a Meike grip as I have read good things about them.....

I saw this on amazon and it says Meike in the title but if you look carefully at the photos Meike has been photoshoped out......

Anyone buy one of these and is it Meike ?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/MK-D750-Ver...amp;sr=1-2&keywords=Meike Nikon D750 grip

Be careful not to over tighten the grip to the body have done this twice with Meike grips on the D750 and both times the only way to remove was to have a machine shop cut them off. Never had the same problems with Meike grips previously and I know 2 other phototographers that have run into the same problems on the D750.

Yeah the D750 is like 100grams less weight than the D610 and as you know that matters on a long wedding day.
Also there is money off (£150) from most shops with a code they tell you on their website. Well apart from John Lewis who give you the same £150 but only when you trade your old camera in...... Cheeky

Ohh right.... Thanks. So what do you recommend.... Another grip or some way of avoiding this. Or is it purely pot Luck :(

Just to be clear, the D750 isn't a miracle worker, John. It still hunts around in some situations.

Looking at reviews it seems a LOT better in low light focusing than the 610.

After spending this much money it better be a miracle worker ;)

I haven't suffered with any focus hunting with 24-120. And I've tried it in really low light conditions

You can stay at my party...:)

Well I will know soon enough but I am also sending my D610 for service as the focus has been hunting even in situation's it normally would be OK in

It's MUCH better than the D610, John. I have experienced some hunting with a 50mm f/1.8G though, but on the whole it's accurate and quick.

Just be careful not to over tighten and should be fine.

The D750 has an HR interface issue that causes hunting under certain situations.

So I buy it and now all the problems are posted.....

What problems? The D750 has one of the best if not the best AF system on the market in a camera that costs near nothing for its spec. Unless someone can show me a camera with better AF for the same money?
