Hi all,

I am serving in the military and have just taken over the running of a camera club here on the base in the Falkland Islands.

I'm after either some power point presentations or training info that I could use to give some lessons to beginners at the club. I'm only an enthusiast myself so don't want to teach anything too advanced.

Does anyone have any documents, PDF's or PowerPoint presentations, or any help at all? We do a competition night once a month but I'm trying to keep the interest levels up on the rest of the weeks.

All help is very much appreciated.

Hi go on to Facebook look for UK club photography and join up explain their and its a wealth of info. Good luck

I'll have a look. Thank you ☺

All the military photographers I've met have been excellent. Would they help?

There's a chap on St. Helena who'd started running some courses. He might be willing to help out. His FB page is here.

Practical demonstrations are always of more use than sitting watching a video or a guest speaker. Go out and show everyone how to take shots, and let them see their mistakes and learn how to correct them.

Not the best time of year in the South Atlantic for wandering about unless you like gale force winds and getting very wet.

I would say you have a wealth of opportunity for pics down there.
The wildlife for a start- albatross, penguins, terns and cormorants. Breeding season is October to March, I think?
Landscape photography should be pretty good too; B&W, interesting cloudscapes!
Aircraft photography? It sounds like an ideal place.
The scenery and weather should be just like up here in Scotland :)

Jack Nicklaus was onced asked how come he won so many golf tournaments. His reply was that he really was just very lucky. But, he added, the more I practice the luckier I get.

You don't improve your photography sitting inside a church hall listening to some glorified old duffer. You improve your photography by using your camera and learning from your mistakes.

I think many on here would jump at the chance to spend some time in the Falklands right now. I'd come today if I could get a ticket.
