Hi all. Sorry I'm not as active on here as I used to be, there don't seem to be enough hours in the day to even get near a computer!

But, I wanted to share some details about my next release, which will be happening later this month, along with a big change I've decided to make to Chroma as a whole. I posted this update to my mailing list last week, so it's probably best for me to link to this, rather than copy/paste it here - https://mailchi.mp/ed2d4e757771/some-changes-at-chroma-towers

As well as changing the way I work, I've also been looking at ways to meet demand, when it's still only myself and ChromaDave doing all of the manufacturing, and have been putting together a new self-build version of the very popular Baby Cube pinhole (135, 24x24mm frame). I've always enjoyed building models/kits, so combining photography and some simple hands-on assembly seemed liked a good option to try out.

I'm still going to be building Cubes as ready to go cameras, but the kit version will hopefully appeal to a lot of people who want to build their own pinhole camera, but don't have the tools/experience to design their own. The new kit version is slightly smaller than the current retail camera, and uses a fully removable rear body for loading/unloading, rather than the magnetic hinged rear door I currently use.

The kit will take around an hour to build, and comes with everything you need to build it, and will (hopefully) be available via several retailers going forwards.

Cheers
Steve

If you're getting rid of the 679 how light tight are the windows on the back of the six:*? Thinking about running 35mm through it.

They have both a red acetate covering inside and a sliding solid plastic cover, so 35mm film will be fine inside, so long as you don't open one of the windows ;0)

For double security, you could always put some black tape over the inside of the windows before loading the film.

I released the first 20 KitCube sets last night. There are still 10 left if anyone is looking to build their own pinhole camera (y)

Cheers
