Looks like the portable studio strobes are being developed at a fair pace. This looks very nice indeed, thought specs are limited at the moment.

Anybody have any opinions on these?

whhhhy oh whyyyy are genesis on elinchrom fit modifiers :( cos they're a good price and well reviewed :(

this new setup looks really neat too, and 1 head 1 pack for waaay less than the cost of one bowens travelpak

I think their Gemini are the bowens fit. Cover all bases.

Edit - my mistake, geminis are bowens.

It looks good - until you read the details...
Features

* Powerful 300Ws output from mains or battery power
* Digital variable flash output control

* Around 200 flashes per charge in battery mode
* PowerPort portable power pack features a quick charge in battery module for fast mid-shoot changes
* Easy-lock interchangeable reflectors

yeaaaah, that's severely less good...that and the elinchrom speedring = hell no.

I'm getting a tronix pack for my heads I think, they look the mutt's, though the lencarta safari looks a neat system if you don't have heads already or whatever.

The Specs dont look that bad to me. Certainly usable, and I'm used to using a Quadra.

And much less than half the price of the Lencarta, and probably a lot lighter as well.

This explains why they put the Genesis 200 up in Price. The full set was £160 only a weeks ago and now there £250.

Not in the strictly original sense, but in the now common idiomatic parlance, it's close enough.

Are they having a laugh or what  300ws of portable power for £380 ! That's a seriously good deal if you don't mind the slow recycle times fewer flashes per battery. Might make a few strobist's with speedlights think twice.

Welcome to the (linguistically challenged) world.

if only they did a Ringlight :) that would be awesome :D, hmmm i have a student card :) tempting :P
