new body but what body?

Sorry but you are wrong. The 60D handles noise extremely well and provides very useable images at the higher ISO settings.
I am more than happy to work at 800 when needed and have also shot at 1600 with more than acceptable results.
To the OP. I have had my 60D since April and love it. Don't be put off by some who post here. If you speak to 60D owners I think you will find that most are extremely happy with their purchase :).
On a side note, make sure you get some decent glass to get the most out of any body you decide on.

Thanks Andy, I have some L series glass so its just the body that needs upgrading now.

Andy, did you even look at the sample link I posted with the shots at different ISOs comparing the cameras? I never said it was poor I said Its not going to be much better. If the OP wants much better he needs to look at FF.

Yes I did but I am not talking about FF. I understand that Tony is leaning towards a crop sensor and as such he will be very pleased with the way the 60D handles noise. It out performs his current camera and he will be very happy, particularly as he has decent glass.

Tony, you asked about the 60D and as an owner I can report that I am chuffed to bits with mine.

Andy

I recently looked at the 550d vs the 60d (same sensor resolution, good high ISO performance and video capability).
I eventually went with the 550d as a purely financial decision, but the standout feature of the 60d for me was the viewfinder. [relatively] huge, very bright and well worth taking into account when listing features (sadly not (for me) worth an extra £300 :o)
