Is it just me or do new blades always cut deeper than old ones.
I had a shave earlier and I have come out that bathroom with about 10 different cuts
:|

And there still bleeding. I finished having my shave about 40 minutes ago

How about you guys. Any shaving nightmares :P

Jordie

I dont even have anything to reply to that

Are they good quality razors or bic economy as you can get some good ones and some crap ones.

I thought razors had come on amazingly in the last 20years. I was doing me legs thinking that, all gungho, laaa de laah, dee de dee, AAAAAArrrrg.
Ankles stick out by the way, you think I'd learn but I've painfully reminded myself of this two times since. I've realised it is still poss to cut yourself like your peeling potatoes but it's getting harder.

I think I must be the meanest bloke on here. I bought a new fangled Gillette something or other - the one with the battery and 5 blades - about 2 years ago.

It came with 4 replacement blades and despite shaving an absolute minimum of at least once every 2 days but mostly every day. I have only replaced the blades once. The first was only replaced because I dropped it and nicked the blade, so to avoid having a 4 inch scar on my face I thought I better change it.

The thing is I am still getting a perfectly good shave! Plus the fact I have Desperate Dan type bristles.

Is this just me being tight or is there someone who hates parting with money more than me?:help:

Just keep practicing. You'll get the hang of it  :exit:

Most shaving cuts happen because you are not paying attention and let the razor move/slide sideways as you pull down/up.

My only nightmare is one day having to pay gillettes'/wilkinsons' extortionate prices for blades!

I feel a kindly dad moment coming on...

Doh!
Had you noticed that new blades possess a quality the absence of which is the single most important factor in recognising an old one, and which is known as sharpness? What are you like? :bonk:

If you'd like to try dragging the blade across your face at right angles to its cutting edge, rather than sliding it sideways and thereby allowing the razor-sharp edge to cut in, you may live to reach the age of oh, ten years older than you are now.

Razors are designed to pretty well present the blade at the optimum angle to the skin but you can figure this out for yourself by holding the handle closer to, then further away from, your fuzzy 'ickle face.

If, on the other hand, you're trying to make sense of a cut-throat razor I'd STOP NOW, PUT IT DOWN AND NEVER USE IT AGAIN!:nono:

Seriously, blood can cause metal to corrode so the last thing you want is blood leaking from your face and onto your camera and lenses. (Nice use of red filter btw!)

I've always shaved using razors which is although much closer than electric shave, its too harsh on the skin. So I got myself one of those philips arcitec electric shavers, which I now use everyday and reserve razor shaving for the special ocassions.

Must admit I don't get any cuts or irritation with the electric shave now and the shave is almost as close as razor.

I made the mistake of not paying attention in the bath last night shaving my legs (after all it is a certain lovely-dovey day this weekend!). I used a fresh blade and took a chunk out of my thumb. At the time I thought 'ow'. Had a quick look and was surprised to not see red stuff. Took the flesh off the razor and carried on. By the time I'd finished, the water had a slodge of pink in it. Then I realised it hurt!

I suppose it will teach me to listen to the radio trying to think what shot I could take on each song for this months competition! :)

My dad has lived on the other side of the planet since i was 10 so i never really got the scoop on shaving properly. I make do but i have sensitive skin and i know im not doing it any favours.

I remember being 16 and thinking how cool it would be to shave and grow a beard. At 21 i have a couple of patches were i have to hair still and i have to shave almost everyday. I hate it

You look too young to be shaving. Anyway, it's probably because you're used to shaving with a blunt blade, it gets replaced but you still apply the same pressure with the new one. A vicious circle that happens every time you renew blades :(

One thing I cannot stand is shaving with a blunt blade, this is a double edged sword for me, I am on anticoagulants for a blood clot I had a few years back so I cut myself and I bleed like a stuck pig for a long time.

The good old Gillette Mach 3 has worked for me for a good few years now, no need to upgrade to all these new vibrating thingy-majigs. :suspect:

Shaving is a pain in the *** - wet shave using a 5 blade, feels nice and close, and the blades rarely need replacing, but my skin is too sensitive. Use an electric razor now, although my housemates came up with a great challenge called FebruHairy, were everyone shaved on the first and we're not shaving again until the 1st of march, whoever has the longest hair wins a couple of pints off the losers. In reality we're all winners *** we don't have to shave for a whole month :)

I have used blades for the last **yrs with no problem. The current price of two blade and three blade razors has driven me to distraction. Its taken three weeks but my new electric Phillishave is giving me just as close a shave-and all for the cost of a recharge.:thumbs:I do miss a blade though.:(
Pete.

I have been shaving since I was 14

Early to mature :p

But I guess I rarely change my blade so like KayJay said

That avatar is all airbrushed :p getting rid of those lovely blemishes

For the girls, waxing or epilation is the way to go. Not sure what it does to the face......

Getting your eyebrow waxed off hurts like hell...or at least that's what a mate of mine said after we did it to him :D That'll teach him for falling asleep and thinking he was safe with his closest friends around him!

HAHAHA

I was stupid enough to let my ex wax my legs.

I refussed to do PE for weeks.

Im a foam man myself :D

have you tried shaving oil?

It's much kinder on the skin and you only need to use a few drops - Somersets is a good brand closely followed by King of Shaves Sensitive (not menthol)

I'm the same as you there but mine was a free sample, I haven't changed the blade for at least a year and a half. It still shaves well though, why bother :D

I have attempted but failed on numourous occasions. Only because I want to take pictures of myself. Then I realise. that the PP is far to much to deal with when I have facial hair coving the jawline :bang:

now sugaring's the way forward, gets all the little hairs out nice and good!
And as for eyebrows, you should try threading, I nearly cried last time I had it done!!
I've always wondered why guys don't wax/sugar their fuzz off, it would make it all so much smoother....!

Cos it would hurt!!!

I use a blow torch, Gets really close. I`ll get my coat.:bang:

You have no right being in here, with your fancy blow torch methods

Whilst it may not be the thing that most single blokes have handy, if you put Vaseline on a shaving cut it will "clot" and stop the bleeding. You do have to shove a chunk on though.

great tip with the vaseline! And as for waxing hurting, it hurts a heck of allot less than slashing about with a razor! Go on, give it a go, just to satisfy my curiosity, haha!

I'm afraid i'd rather go to work with a bleeding cut than Vaseline hanging off me chin ...

There might be a little too much 'stick' involved ...

Oh boy, don't get me started about shaving..........
Too late :D

I've been shaving since I was about 13-14.
Tried the lot - electric, wet, oil, foam, gel............
Now I only ever wet shave. And I have a very successful way of doing it.
Which I might share with you one day!!

It doesn't matter too much which I use - foam or gel. But it's the aftershave which matters. Try Nivea for men replenishing post shave balm.
Great stuff.
I've suffered serious shaving rash for years (it was much worse with electric), and this stuff sorts it right out.
As does my personal method of shaving......

I should/need to shave every day without fail, but I don't. I go for every other day, sometimes when I need a break because of sore skin and shaving rash I might leave it 3 or 4 days.
And I only ever use a blade twice. No more than that, ever.
Yes it's expensive, but if you've suffered shaving rash/sore skin like I have over the years, you'd gladly pay for blades!!!!!

King of Shaves oil and shaving foam. Works a treat :)

I just don't bother shaving unless I really have to.

Yes, I'm a scruffy ******* :)
