New Bird Photography Challenge - Discussion

Not trying to be funny here but there are some entries that have been taken out of the time period, as I say not being funny, but know of at least one shot that was not added as it was just out of the period that would have been cracking. :)

I had a couple I'd wanted to post that were outside the time period, not a patch on one I've seen, mind, but I liked them, and I don't mean the "grey furred wagtail" either :D

Does it actually state when the photograph should be taken, or just how long the competition runs for ?

From the entry thread

Next Competition. Starts April 1st and closes midnight on April 30th 2009

Bird or Birds on a feeder

Open to anyone. Photos must have been taken between the above dates.

Hopefully this theme will encourage more people to enter than last time.

Please keep this thread for entries only. Discussion etc here: http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=122594

Do the feeders have to be commercial feeders (which was my original interpretation) or objects with food in them?

My interpretation was that as long as it was something containing food, then its considered a feeder, regardless of what the object actually is. I don't know what everyone else thinks, but for 'experiened' bird shooters, something a bit more unusual is surely better to push both your photographic skills and imagination?

Thats how I understood it any feeder, either manufactured or homemade.

Sounds fair enough to me.........I think we can be fairly wide in the interpretation of a "feeder" - unless anyone has any real objections. This is a fun competition, after all:)

I've no objections, in fact, I'm all for it! I think it goes with my original idea of pushing peoples creativity :)

You can either upload it to your Talk Photography gallery - not sure how to do this, as I've never used it, but all the help should be in FAQ.

Or you can host it elsewhere like flickR/imageshack/and so on, then past the direct link to the jpeg file, inside brackets like so...

Just remove the asterix! :)

Just waiting for Phil (Purpleclouds) to work his magic with the Mods and organise a poll.

Well chuff me that took a while to do that poll :p

I've added the poll to the entries thread, and put the discussion threads in the competition forum (the Bird forum is for images only, not discussion threads :))

Ive gone through the entries and added them to the poll if they are indeed an entry (some posts were just discussion, or quotes of previous posts).
There was also one with double entries, so I've pointed that out on the poll.
So please vote for the post # of the shot you like. The post number is to the right of the post

:)

Thanks very much Marcel - if only TP made shops...they'd have the best customer service in the world :D
