Nice one Ian. I've been tempted to replace the 1DII with one but I think I'll stick and see what happens to the 1-series over the next year first. I'll be the luddite with the pair of MkIIs

Yeah know what you mean, i have been having major issues using the 20d as backup, and wasnt going to get another 1d mk3 (specially not for the price i got it from amazon for ;))

LOL ill return the favour mate, JFDI ;)

Oh I'll be doing it once this job is out of the way - waste of time at the mo. I've packed most of the gear away to resist the temptation to lamb off. :woot:

Ian,

From a thread I posted yesterday....just worth checking the firmware version

The test of the Canon EOS 50D was first made with firmware v.1.0.1, then with an updated firmware, version 1.0.2. The updated version significantly improved color and image noise performance.

Awesome mate :woot:

Looking forward to seeing some of your shots, with the 600mm f4. JFDI (if it means what I think it means ). It doesn't mean Jason Francis Did It, by any chance? ;)

Nice one Ian

I'd have put money on you getting one of those by the end of the month ;)

Must resist! :D

A fiver says you get one before the end of the month Cedric :D I mean you can't let Ian have all the fun can you? :p

Congratz, all these threads on the 50D are not helping me resist.

Look forward to the results from Brandon......

I hate the way the battery grip is smaller than the body! It looks too much like an after thought than an actual design part for the camera.

Know what you mean, doesnt affect the handling though as its only smaller on the left edge and never hold it by that. I much prefer the 1 series for ergonomics :)

:agree: although it feels fine when you hold it. Looks pants though

for what its worth I reckon they make the grip slightly smaller to make it distinguishable from the 1 series. If the LHS of the grip joined the body better then at a glance it would look similar to the 1 series, the 40D is the same.

I cant think of any other reason why and it would be a quick job to make it fit better.

But who knows hey.....
