Hello everyone, My name is David and I am a Dubliner. I found this site while checking out the news on the recently discovered Robert Capa negatives in Mexico. I know Spain's mainland very well though not the Islands and the interior is so interesting. A number of my relations from Ireland fought with Franco's Forces in 1936-39 and they were known as 'The Blueshirts' in Ireland. Today the Blueshirts are better known as Fine Gael the opposition Parilamentry Party in the Dail and somewhat more moderate.
I have followed Roert Cap's life with interest and he was a man of contradictions and a history maker too.
My interest in photographs began in 1959 when I was eleven and I used to pinch my Mam's Brownie Box to photograph the local Buses and trucks on the road in those grim 1950s times. The hobby never left me and today I still photograph Buses, Trucks, and indeed all modes of transport with a number of my pictures published of which I am proud. Though a digital user and I still use my beloved Canon A1, Nikon EM, A recently acquired Mamiya C330 from my old friend and film maker Michael Dryhurst. I also use my Yashica 124G and Zeiss Ikoflex though after 15 years I still need to use the instruction book when operating this camera, anyone owant to buy it.. it is in pristine condition. I have about 16,000 pictures on my library covering from about 1958
Ilook forward to tuning in from now on, many thanks
