New and in a quandry.....

Hi

I have a Sony a200 and I would like a relatively small (in size) lens to replace my 18-70 kit lens, but to give me more scope for using when just out and about in general (referred to as a Vacation Lenses).

It has been suggested I look at the following two, but since I've only been a DSLR user for a year some of the technical stuff is still beyond me and I dont know what to do.

I would like your opinion on:

Tamrom 70-250mm
Sigma 70-200mm

or if there is another lens out there that would fit the bill
