New 9/11 Photos Released

Some amazing photos on there, really shows the horror and damage caused that day

Worst thing I've ever seen I think, or at least the worst intentional thing I've seen. It was horrid watching it unfold on the news.

Yeah same here - I was at work around lunch time that day, when I heard over the radio that "reports are coming in of a plane hitting one of the world trade center buildings" I knew straight away it was terrorists.

It was / and still is hard to understand why any human being could carry out such an act, just don't understand any of it!

Dont think we will ever understand the thought process behind it or how they actually did it.

Did anyone see the program on TV last year where they put all the home video and news footage together in order in real time? It was really harrowing viewing in places, watching firemen running into what we now know was to be their demise :(

no missed that, what was it called?

It still seems like something out of a sci-fi movie.
I'll never forget that day, that's for sure.

Poor souls.....

I was in the air about 1hour from New York, heading to Mexico.

Got turned around and spent 4 days in Nova Sctotia, had no idea what was actually going on until we'd been on the runway for about 2 hours, judging on the captains voice when he told us, neither did he. - we'd been told about a terrorsist attack on the world trade centre, but figured it was another bomb like the previous one.

102 minutes that changed the world. Stunning horrifying riveting watching. I literally had trouble breathing I was so engrossed watching it. It bought home that day more than any other programme I have seen.

UK web site and they can't even get the frucking date correct.

11.09.01

pretty stunning shots

The Engineer in me still wonders...... sad day for sure but Im still very confused about a few facts.

Excellent photography.

That was the one. A fantastic piece of film making and, as you say, horrifying yet riviting at the same time.
I was caught up in the middle of the chaos just after the July 7th tube bombings and the programme bought back a lot of memories and feelings from that day as well.

I was in a post production house in Soho that day, watching it happen live on the news feed.

We were told to leave and get out of London as it was expected Canary Wharfe to have a similar attack. On the way out we were pulled over by police motorcyclists making way for the cavalcade of Cherie Blair and her kids heading out at speed

Stunning aerial photos

I saw these last night and it really made me think as this time last year I was in New York walking around that area, went in the chapel next to the WTC too.
I remember watching this aswell, and I was only 7 at the time.

Like Lauren I was only 8 at the time when it happened, and I remember it so vividly... really quite scary.
My mum had just picked me up from school, one of my friends mums came up to us and said 'have you heard?', we were then told. We got home, then the second plane hit. And I just remember sitting on the sofa, watching the news channel all night. Watching the same footage.

I feel sorry for the poor person who took these pictures, and then had them on their harddrive...!

Thats a day I will never forget. Great images though.

Like many others I watched on TV utterly horrified at what was happening on the screen in the corner of the room.

Heavens only knows what the poor chap who shot these was feeling at the time. I can't even begin to comprehend. Being to close and yet unable to do anything, must have been truly awful.

It is important that pictures like this do get shown though, so we don't forget what our fellow man is capable of.

look like police photos from the watermark
I can remember where I was too when I found out
thought it looked unreal..like bad movie effects when I saw it on the TV.
bizarre how the buildings collapsed and so many shocking images from that day

i never realised there was so much smoke, i remember going into school when it happened and i was about 9 and they put on a live feed (however nowadays they wont coz of H&S) it really did change the world and made us think more about security.

Still very sad to look at.

A very sad day for humanity :(

a horrible reminder of what can happen anywhere in the world today.

some fantastic shots there glad theyve been released.

One of those days were you will always remember what you were doing when it happened, for me anyway ill never forget.

i remember the day it happened. I was still in primary school, and id walked back to a firends house with him, and he said that a plane had flown into a tall building on the telly. we assumed it was a film or something and carried on doing whatever. It was only when i got home as saw it over and over again on the news that i realised something bad had happened!

Devestating footage :'(

Poor Souls lost.

A true and real crime against humanity.

The logistics of a conspiracy make it a nigh on impossible theory. The amount of people that would have to be involved makes it a non starter.

"Support structures being cut?" Get real, how do you suppose that would have happened in a building that was being used 24/7?

Conspiracy theories are all well and good but in my view they are created by people who can't grasp reality and have trouble dealing with the events that actually happened.

I too was in primary school. My last year - we were leaving and the bus driver was listening to the news on a portable radio. Always a joker, he exclaimed that a plane had smashed into a building, I didn't believe him until i got home. The whole world just stopped that day.

I can remember where I was too when I found out

I think everybody does. I was in a travel agent's booking a flight to the US at the time. A guy popped his head through the door, looked at me and said "I hope you're not going to New York", then told us what'd happened (the plane had just hit the first tower).

Then I got home, turned on the TV just as the second plane was coming in.

Was a terrible day, and a couple of people I knew lost friends in the towers that day.

I heard it on the news, I changed the radio station to Five Live and listened, it was horrific. when i got home, i watched the rolling news all evening. I wont ever forget what was shown, its chilling to think about.

On that day I only saw the full extent of events in NYC, Washington, etc once I got home from work. To see these refreshes the memory of this terrible day that affected such a large percentage of the world's population in one way or another...

Back then, the office had only one PC on the network that was internet capable, and no one had a telly. So as the news spread about the WTC being hit by aircraft there was a lot of attention around that PC, but when attempts were made to connect to news sites ( BBC, AnnaNova, CNN etc), there was a clear overload with people trying to access them globaly!

The aerial pictures in the OP of this thread to me have a similar effect to ones seen of the WW2 atom bomb drops etc. Totally awesome technically, but horrifying considering the death, plight & destruction caused.

Wise idea matty.

I enjoyed the first half but decided against sharing my memories of that day once the squabbling started!

A facinating set of images btw. My hat off to the composure of the officer taking these shots.
