Whoohoo, cant wait. The wife persuaded me to order a new 7D last night (God bless her). Got it from a reliable (i.e. used before a lot of times) ebay seller for about £950 including postage. She's gonna get me the grip, a nifty fifty and a bigger bag for christmas as it's overflowing with goodies now.

Very good choice..I have been using it since last year and its fun..
You should proud of your wife..
good luck.

Sod the camera. Where do you get a wife that persuades you to by equipment?

congrats on the new purchase and on your wife :D

Get a head start by reading up about the 7D especially its AF system, on the net. Do a search on here if you havent already as I have posted a few links to some very good websites, including Canon

Couldn't agree more - i've been around for 3 week here & have learnt lots more about the 7D, due to the good links.

Welcome to the 7D club !!

Thanks for the compliments on my choice of camera and wife. She's just let me order a Tamrac Expedition 9x bag to carry all my gear in and asked me what other gear I want for christmas. Unfortunately, for some of you, she's not for sale or hire so you'll just have to look harder to find one like her. Oh yeah, and she's blonde and 10 years younger than me to boot. Someone must of been smiling down on me the day I found her.

Good luck with the 7D. You can download the manual from Canon's website and get ahead of the game.

My 7d is also arriving next week. Have watched 3 hours of tuition videos and read numerous books/guides for the 7d - lots to get to grips with compared to my old camera. My 450d died with the infamous er99 error - a stuck shutter. Enjoy your new camera mate!

Got the 7D, was a bit worried about the AF system after reading some of the posts, but I gave it a try and was pleasently surprized how easily I took to it. Took it out on tuesday night for a go and after half an hour had got it to where I was really comfortable with it. Seems strange picking up my 550D now.

I came from a Pany FZ28 and I too had read a few reports about its inaccurate/unreliable AF and that it was perhaps too complex to use AF wise.

I absolutely love it and so glad I made the move. Sounds like you're doing well already.

my wife helped persuade me to buy a 5d mkii a few weeks back. was a very surreal moment as she's normally the one telling me to stop buying!

congrats on the 7d :D

Have looked but can't find 7d owners thread. Think you guy's should be able to answere my question tho. it's a quickie.

Can you flick through frame rates while filming with the 7D? ie: filming a car moving towards you then slomotion as the car passes then back to normal frame rate as the car disapears.

Thanks, sorry to hijack thread.

Cheers

My wife told me to get a 7D if that's what i wanted...we went off into jessops and again said, if it's the one then buy it. So when she was in such a good mood I swapped the kit lens for a 24-105mm F4 L lens. She was a bit quiet the rest of the day.
