New 5D MK3 revealed

Agreed. For me the price difference isn't that important because anyone buying a D800 will soon find themselves needing a serious PC upgrade. I know mine isn't quick enough and it's got 8gigs and a quad core.

That's what would worry me about going the Nikon route. I was glad I upgraded my PC at the same time as I upgraded to a 5d2. I doubt if the old one would have coped.

A 36Mb D800........

amazon have the D800 for £2099

for me who is currently not tied into a system why would I spend an extra £900 on the 5D3. the cost of the 5D3 is going to have to come down a heck of a lot in price

Because, realistically speaking, they are different cameras for different markets. You no likey, you no buyie. There are plenty of people who are going to buy it that will make up for you not doing so....

However expect the price to drop by about £400 within 4-6 months (maybe faster after the initial take up).

not really - other than the mp difference (just like the D700 and 5D2) they are in the same market field. I prefer canon's layout etc so if they were the same price I'd get the canon in a heart beat.

jessops are n ow showing they have them ready for delivery...but only the 24-105 kits at £3700 :O

WEX showing as in stock at £3689.

How can the shutter ONLY be rated for 150,000 shots when its classed as a semi pro/pro camera ?
Rob.

Appears to have been a mistake, it's back to RRP now.

Gave them a call to find out and after some umming and Ahhing got told well they are not actually in stock its an error on the website. (Seems strange as its still on there several hours later and still taking orders), suppose its a good way to generate some funds then try and convince the customer to wait a while for delivery!!!

I could be wrong, but iirc the Jessops website is run on their behalf by a third party....

The 24-105's are normally £800 not £900 and the prices for mint s/h are sometimes as low as £550 so no way will you find a buyer for the lens at £700, not on here or AV forums anyway.

Not far off that price as an addon, so not worth doing anyway. Plenty of people bought the kit with the 5D mk2 and sold the lens as brand new.

I was hoping there was a little incentive there with the camera being expensive but I'll just wait, probably until christmas time for the price to come down.

That is a good indication of price cuts to come sooner rather than later.

Edit... however I do recall mention of them selling grey imports as well as UK stock.

They may give a further discount for payment via BT, can't find anything suggesting that on their site but they were offering that last time i priced something with them.

They get very mixed reviews if you Google them, so make up your own mind.
Just wait a few months and all the retailers will start discounting.

Just nipped into digital depot in Stevenage to enquire when they might have them in and he had 5 in this morning!!! I just handed over the cash. They have one left....

we have to meet when I get d800 so I play with 5d and you with d800 :)

Good find. What are Martins like?

My experience of them is exceptional... A couple of years ago I bought a 70-200 lens from them that was slightly faulty on arrival. I rang them up and Martin's wife jumped in the car and personally delivered me a replacement about an hour later!

I bought 17-40 lens of MArtins. There was a slight delay in arrival, but no problem. Was a great deal - cheaper than Kerso even at the time.

Great price for the 5d III
