New 5D MK3 revealed

or maybe following the apple terminology it will just be known as "The new 7d"

Does the 5D MKIII take two memory cards simultaneously ~ a CF & an SD? That could be dead handy. I keep reading the specifications & it's making me want the body more & more!

5D2 no, only CF, 5D3 takes both

Yes and there a number of different options as to how they are both used..

These tests are making disappointing reading.
I was hoping for 2 more stops of DR to match the initial claims of two stops lower noise.
But the 5DIII is looking less and less like it's going to hit that spot.
 
@onona You'll have to post everyone on here a reveiw of the 5D MKIII after you've had a little tinkle with it! I'll be interested to kno what you think of ittt.

Yeah i know the feeling.. i'm using absolutely every bit of self control i have to stop me from ordering one right now.

Yes definitely.. i'm sure there's dozens on here that want first hand genuine user reviews on it.

Hahaha. I'm this way with lenses but unfortunately don't quite have the funding behind me to just go out & purchase my dream equipment. Currently saving for some beautiful Canon L-series glass to accessorize my gorgeous 5D MKII!

Interesting that someone has ordered through Kerso. I'm considering doing the same. Did you have to contact him for the price?

I have bought quite a few lenses from him.... I just pinged him an email for a price... :)

I did put 100 deposit down to secure the order...

Kerso's site now states the price. I've purchased of Ian before but not a body. I bet your excited?

But it is my business. I'm a potential customer looking to buy 3x5d and a 1DX and I need to be assured that I'm not going to get a bill for VAT when I return from working abroad, or send it in for repair.

Call me old fashioned but not having a return address on a website selling goods doesn't fill me with confidence, no matter how many of you think it's all OK.
Suppose the non answer to my questions means he's away/on holiday??

The goods are being shipped from Scotland (clearly shown on the website) so I would assume that it shouldn't be any different to going into a local shop and buying a camera. If you are unsure then it's probably best to check with HMRC about your liability with regard to VAT when it comes to buying goods so as to have piece of mind. If you are intending to spend a lot of money then it's worth getting it in writing from HMRC as they do have a tendancy to forget previous advice.

I fully agree about the return address, I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be shown and does get the old cogs whirring slightly. Perhaps there's a lot of stock there that he doesn't want the location revealed.

Maybe Ian Stocks them at his personal Home address :lol: If so that would be a reason why he doesnt let the public know of his address?

give potential customers certain information in advance, such as your name and address, the goods you are selling or the services you are providing, the price (including all taxes), delivery cost, delivery arrangements, and customers' right to cancel"


Looks to me like the Distance Selling Regulations are been broken?

For info. The invoice supplied to me by Ian (Kerso) for an item purchased included an address and details on the right to cancel.

This may well be his home address, especially if he is trying to keep overheads down by not running separate business premises. I don't really see a problem with that to be honest.

A mate bought his mkII from him without issue and nothing in my own (admittedly limited) dealings with him would lead me to have any concern about buying with him again should he be giving the best price when I ready to pull the trigger on the mkIII.

Maybe all that information is available if you ask him (he's very approachable via pm and email) but nothing says it has to be published, only given.

'Given' could imply a requirement to ask for it first

Maybe, rather than picking faults in his business model, you should consider all of the amazing feedback he has and look at the number of complaints - on ebay most of them are from people in Romania because he doesn't ship there
 
I bought from him 4yrs ago or there abouts nothing but superb service, I just don't understand the motives of some people on this forum, If he had been breaking the law then he would have been prosecuted a long time ago, its almost like some on here have an ulterior motive to keep on bashing him?
 
I'm not bashing, I'm asking questions as a customer who is about to spend a few thousand on new equipment, elsewhere by the looks of it.

have you found any negative reviews or people complaining about getting stung for VAT/duty, or are you worried because his business model is different to everyone else's?

I see ed's point. If you don't have a vat receipt and get pulled up at uk customs when travelling (as they are allowed to do) you are then liable to pay the vat and a penalty for having evaded the tax. I would think a pro carrying lots of kit will be more conspicuous to customs than an amateur with one body and a couple of lenses.
 
If I were Ian. I probably wouldn't sell anything to you. All of this could have been done between you and him not here in the public. Poor show.

Since when would they ask for a receipt? if your flying in from the US with a camera in the box obviously new and and trying to avoid paying import duty that's one thing. If you have a camera bag full of kit that is obviously well used, it would be very unusual for anybody to ask to see a receipt... Iam does however provide a full uk receipt.
