Don't think there's a RAW converter available yet for 5D III files.
Understandable as there isn't a 5D III available yet

DWF is Digital Wedding Forum.
Changing screen is a niche thing and most people won't touch it unless they have manual lenses. I say less than 5%. Although i want a T/S lens so that part of me might cause me to keep one of my 5Dii for this purpose.
Scoop?
Canon 5Dii who can afford it are wetting themselves over this.
Canon users who can't afford it are disappointed about its price.
Some Nikon users are envious.
Some Nikon users don't care.
Live view is so much better than the Matt screen anyway. Plus when you come to use other lenses the matt screen is a pain.
That's me - I could buy it on the day it comes out, but it still feels £500 more expensive than it should be.

Put me in that camp also.
One of the coolest things I noticed that wasn't in any of the literature I've seen is the settings for Auto ISO, you can set the FROM and TO range for acceptable ISO when on Auto, and you can set the minimum shutter speed. Which I think I'd use a lot. eg:-
"Pick ISO automatically between 100 and 6400 in order to ensure shutter of at least 60th"
Then when the price hit £2500 they wouldn't be able to keep up with demand lol.
That's my figure anyway, i want one, it looks on paper like it has everything i've ever wanted in a body, but i'm not paying more than £2.5k for it.
The trouble is - £2500 is lightly used 1D mk4 territory
If anyone is a CPS member - I'd recommend registering for their little 5d3 demo as per the email they sent out. I attended one today, and it was nice to be away from the crowds and got a chance to play without 101 people nosing over my shoulder. I knew a lot already before attending. However there was one thing I learnt that I didn't know before today - and was quite a sway factor for me. The 5d3 has a 'quiet' shutter mode. And it's quiet!! Very quiet! I was very impressed. The mirror is controlled by a motor rather than a traditional spring - and because of this it can be a very very quiet 'click'. Everything else was as stated - but can't see anyone mentioning just how quiet it was. So it's a thumbs up from me - and a long wait until it drops in price to £2500!

Seems like some people are happy with the price...
5 Reasons Why the Canon 5D Mark III is $3500 and Why It's Worth It

Yeah we were in the very first of these sessions on Sunday and were all wowed by just how quiet the silent mode was!![]()
Yes, £3,000 is more than the 5Dii but there was a massive earthquake and Tsunami that must have hit their profit bad. £3,000 seems "reasonable" to me.

I pondered moving over purely for the D700 for such a long time, but decided not to because I knew the mk3 was just around the corner.....6 months later and it's finally here, and I'm glad I held out!! The D800 looks tempting, but those mk3 specs are perfect in my eyes.....they've got it bang on!!
It's not a replacement. It's a clear step up and Canon will still sell the 5D2 alongside (Canon statement). Naturally loads of people will upgrade, there's been a lot of waiting.
After the summer they will release a sub £2k FF camera (4fps and dumbed down AF) to replace the 5D2. But they need a new EF non-L kit lens for it as well, 3x zoom cheaper than the 24-105 but with IS. Maybe 28-135/3.5-5.6 IS II?
(my predictions)

If one could afford a £2,800 camera he or he can surely afford a £3,000 one. The only difference is saving for another month? If photography is a hobby I am sure people will be gutted at the price but looking at it from a business perspective, it is merely an investment, the feature it bring to the table is potentially a game changer for some.

12 months/£500 depreciation is nothing. You lose that much in your new car easily in a month. I'm not buying it at launch but no way would wait 12 months, 1/3 of its life cycle, before buying it if I can afford it. It's a tool that can bring in income and it's features will help me to push further in my work and I can't wait to see how far I can push it an extent both my and the camera's boundary.
It makes business sense to get one, it also make artsitic sense to get one too.
For me anyway.
Kerso has already indicated his price will be in the region of £2600 so getting close already to the £2500 figure some believe is the true value.
