Hi all,

I got my new 400D today from Kerso for a very good price. I've taken a load of pictures but i've only had time to edit one. Ok this shot i think is really good but i just haven't got a clue where to go when editing it. I have also taken this shot but in landscape format which i think might be better but i dont have time. So it seems like a great camera hopefully it will be and i will be out tomorrow having a play.

What do you think of the shot anyway :thinking:... ?

Have you got the un-edited version? I like the composition but i'm not keen on the processing i'm affraid

Just shows what processing can do for photography...
Good composition - so why not embellish it to bring out the best...
What software do you use?

Shooting straight into the sun can fool the meter into under exposing.. its quite a nice look imo.. could almost be a night shot!! even though it was taken in bright sunlight.. i had a few of these in my old FILM days.. nice composition, and i like the edited shot too, although it could have better processing but i dint know what exactly.. perhaps try and tone down the contrast and see what that does..

Great first pic though Dave.. the 400D is quite capable so keep em comming..
 
i think david it is a brit dark, and the samera has meterd for the sky. Ideally you should have exposed twice and then combined or use a ND grad.

Or next time you go expose for the boat and the foreground and not the sky.

The camera metered the shot completely wrong so i just metered it what looked good which was underexposed according to the camera. Which is what i was aiming for...
