Im looking into changing my monitor up to a 27 INCH. Would a gaming one be any better for lightroom and PS. or just stay with a normal monitor.
Thanks.

A gaming one would in fact probably be quite a lot worse (the cheaper ones are high refresh rate TN panels which have poor colours and viewing angles). Look for a VA or IPS/PLS technology monitor with good colour calibration.

You need to decide on resolution as well - 1080p or 1440p

Something like the Dell U2715h is a good value choice.

Have a look at reviews and play with the monitor selector tool here: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/selector.htm

If its for photo editing and your pc isn't yet ready for a 4k video card then a good compromise is a 2k monitor. I use an acer 2k monitor and it gives extremely good resolution without the massive PC upgrade costs to 4K. The monitors resolution efficiency though is to a large extent determined by the PC components you have, if they aren't up to scratch it will be like watching paint dry as the fps wont be able to keep up with the res the monitor requires

My Pc Is not 4K , but I run 16gb ram,240 ssd, and 1tb drive for storage. I have a NVIDIA graphic card installed also. plus 2gb external hard drive backup. I will take a look at 2K monitors.

You are looking at a full HD TN panel monitor. I'd not use that for photo editing, move your head slightly from one side to another and the colours shift, making it a nightmare to know when you've got it right.

For £200 you would be much better served by a decent 24" screen like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-UltraSharp-U2414H-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B00H3JIGHA

A decent 27" will be closer to £300 and I would look at the BenQ GW2765HT which is a 2k IPS type monitor and comes pretty well recommended. http://www.ebuyer.com/660351-benq-gw2765ht-27-ips-qhd-led-monitor-9h-lcela-tbe

well all I can say to that is Im a working pro photographer and on PS pretty much everyday. All of my work is vetted at 100% by photo editors before its allowed anywhere near a client and I haven't had any problems yet. So perhaps this is getting into the realms of too much detail and not enough practicality regarding whats sufficient to complete the job

That monitor is not suited for photo editing, TN screens rarely are.

Do you use your PC for gaming as well as editing? I currently have an older version of the 25" dell that JYC linked and it is good for lightroom and just adequate for gaming. Upgrades to 27" that are great for both are expensive.
