I ordered a new 1dMk3 from Jessops yesterday (2k, 12months 0%!) I've been using old sandisk ultras with my 20d and 5d but suspect I could do with some faster cards for the new toy.
So what speed should i be looking at for the 1d? and are there any good bargains out there at the min?

Depends on your style of photography, if you fire 3 shot bursts, Ultra IIs arent bad cards, but if you want something quicker, i'm happy with my Extreme IIIs in my mkII

As the 1D Mark III can only write to a memory card no faster than 11MB/sec your current cards may be fine. Have a check to see how fast they are rated, anything around 15MB/sec will do the job well enough, anything faster than that is overkill. :)

I use Sandisk Extreme III cards in mine. Seem to work fine. 2 8GB cards and I write to both at the same time to act as an automatic backup just in case.

If you're looking at 8 or 16GB avoid the kingston elite pro 133X, they didn't work properly in mine. Sandisk, as usual, were perfect.
