This is of course still rumour.

However if they were to discontinue the the Mk IV this would have to be pretty special I reckon.

I wonder if it the rumour is true if it will have a 1.3 mode to get the 12fps.

Not until March though?

I still fancy upgrading from my Mk III to a Mk IV & a 400/2.8 IS.

If it is 18mp what else do you want to see & what are your price estimates?

Meh, not got the money for this. Would love the 5DIII to come out asap however so I can pick up a bargain 5DII!

All 1D series cameras are already 1.3 crop Rob but if you mean the ability to let the camera select different crop modes like the Nikons can then it'll be a waste of time and money, it doesnt do anything on the Nikon which you cant control much better by cropping in post production, if fact the Nikon crop mode is a bleeding nuisance, when i first started using it i always forgot it was selected, that is until i chopped the head or feet of my subjects but it was too late by then so ive not used it since the 2nd week of owning the D3 series, waste of time and effort.

Dont forget it will also have another 275 billion AF combinations to choose from.

With all this talk of a new 1D/5D body from canon coming soon, with a 1D body being aimed more still towards photo and the 5D III being heavily video enabled has anybody considered the idea that they may bring together the 1D and 1Ds into a single product line (high fps full frame) and produce a 1D video (eg. 1Dx) that is geared towards travelling videographers in extreme conditions (1D level weatherproofing)?

Thanks chaps.

It is certainly going to be interesting to see what direction Canon are going in. I look forward to seeing.

Not that I can afford anyway - but I hate it when they announce a product that is going to be released in 6 months time.

I can understand how it is good for some as they can make plans on future purchases and not be "caught" out as such.

I did think announcing the development of the 200-400 was a good idea. At least they were saying, looking we hopefully have this coming but don't hang on for it just yet. I guess they are also saying don't switch to Nikon if you want a lens in the range.

Gary - am I right in thinking then that when you switch to a cropped mode on your Nikon you still see a full frame image through the viewfinder?

Hurry up tomorrow...

You do Rob but its slightly "greyed out" my trouble was when switching very quickly between cameras that i had forgot i had the D3 in crop mode and had fired off a few frames before i saw it in the viewfinder as its not that pronounced and by the time i had taken it out of crop mode the shot had gone. :bonk:

Ah I see - thanks.

So we'll hope for a FF 18Mp camera at 12fps, no crop mode (or crap mode even), ISO to "I can't see anything, where's my camera) and only 274 billion AF combinations :)

Hope it's FF, 8fps and around 18 mpx, and as good as the D3.
I've been hoping since the original 1ds for a camera like this, the 1ds mk3 is great but sometimes it does have its limitations.

I'd say I had a pretty good guess
