...rush, not concentrate and try and put a CF card into the slot sideways, like I just did, bending two pins! :bonk:

Fortunately I've managed to prize them straight with a small modelling screw driver, and all works ok now! Was pretty worried for a moment...: help:

Anyone else done a similar thing?

I left my sony memory card from my point and shoot camera in my jeans once! Doh!

The two plastic sides had come slightly apart, however it still worked when I popped it back in the camera!

I dont trust it as its damaged, but kept it for my PSP...

slot of what.

I done this with my card reader on my PC, simple to fix since I can take my PC to bits but if I done it to a D300 I would be :runaway:

Good job on getting it fixed, I think you deserve a victory sip :lol:

I tried forcing a sony memory stick into an SD card slot once - snapped the sony memory card, no damage to the camera thankfully.

I must say that I am paranoid about damaging the pins in the card slot in my camera, so am always really careful when inserting/removing the card.

Touch wood so far I haven't done anything silly, but never say never for fear of tempting fate..

Cheers, I was pretty relieved! ;)

Same thing happened with an SD card for my D50, worked fine, just kept it for emergencies!

My best effort yet is sticking a SD Card into the CD Slot on my iMac. And yes it fits in there just lovely :bang:

Apple don't think of "everything" with their design!!!

*note to self* Don't buy a D300 of Jim.

I did once a few years ago. Was my dad's old camera which he gave me, first day i got it i tried to put the CF in backwards consequently bending ALL the pins. Oops :bonk:

i ment in the camera or computer:thumbs:

Ah silly Apple, I knew there'd be a draw back to their fancy slot load CD/DVD drives! Did you manage to get it out ok, and not cause any damage?

Funny as it may sound, I do actually keep good care of my kit! I was just in a rush to sort out my memory cards out so I could get some sleep before waking up at 5 am this morning, and I was pretty knackered and lacking concentration as it was. Lesson learnt. :(

I'm glad it was nothing major and was easily fixed! I can't see how else you could easily damage a D300 without dropping it or something, a well built bit of kit! (Just jinxed myself now no doubt!)

So you did a proper job of it then! I suspect you had to send it off to be fixed professionally?

Yes, thankfully a bent paperclip and a large dose of swearing got it out. :)
