Never too young to start

She's spent the last few days walking round dry firing the OM2 so I'm sure she'll be happy firing away with film in it. I think I'll get a roll of Vista for her though seeing as my iPhone camera roll is normally full of posed shots of her dolls!

If you PM me your address, I will drop a couple of rolls in the post for her to get started with. They were given to me and I can't see me shooting them at the moment. :)

Thanks Gaz, that's a really kind offer :0) I've just told Chloe and she says thank you very much. I'll pm you my details.

Cheers
Steve

That is so cool to see (y):)

No doubt borrowing dads OM2 is cool, afterall it's a smart piece of kit but myaybe Chloe would like her very own 35mm P&S camera.

I've got some knocking about ( Pentax zoom, Canon sureshot or even better perhaps is the super lightweight Cybersampler camera ( see pic) that takes 4 pics on one negative simply by pressing the shutter once! :woot::))

I'd be more than happy to bob one in the post ......the only condition is that Chloe offers a "replacement camera seals service" for all the f&c gang even if it means dad slaving away in the background to help keep up with demand! :D

Asha, that's awesome, thanks. I think Chloe would love to try out the Cyber Sampler.

Again, this section shows why it's the most awesome one on TP! As for the camera seal replacement service, I'm always happy to help and I'll make Chloe do some around her reading homework too :0)

@gazmorton2000. Thanks again for the films, they arrived yesterday and Chloe thought it was Christmas with that wrapping ;0)

Asha has kindly shipped the camera so once that's here next week we'll be heading out to see what shots we can come up with. Thanks again guys.

Cheers
Steve

Very welcome. Shame you didn't catch me on a 'pi**ed off at photography' day as she's have probably found a Leicester M2 and a load of Portra in the post! Ha.

@Asha The fantastic Cyber Sampler arrived today in its' chrome glory :0). Thanks also for the films included with it, they were an unexpected surprise! Chloe's already got a roll of Vista in it and is shooting away;

(I might have to keep reminding her about moving her fingers out of the way though...)

Really big thanks to Gaz and Asha for fuelling Chloe's film interest along with everyone else's encouragement. I'll share some of her results once she's finished a roll.

Cheers
Steve

Wow....that's just ace!:)

So glad it's arrived for the holiday weekend so plenty of free time to play and of course thé camera couldnt have gone to a better home!....at least it will see plenty of life!;)

I figured we'd be up against an excited trigger happy little girl with her new toy so to run out of film would be like running out of batteries on xmas day.........with a bit of luck our joint efforts will keep Chloe going until monday!!!!

Could be lots of macro finger shots then lol.....at least with 4 " lenses" there's a chance one will actually capture thé intended subject. :D

Have fun !

Yay! That's awesome. Glad she is enjoying it. Look forward to seeing what comes out of it!

I remember when my nephew was younger, he was much more taken with my old 35mm cameras than he was with my big digital beast. I think it was the sounds it made. Cute!

Well, the first results are in and I don't reckon pops did too bad with the Action Sampler :0)

1) Penguins ahoy!

2) Practice selfie

3) Catching her big brother

4) She can even shoot 'street'

As ever, not the greatest scans by Asda but £9 for 4 rolls of C41 Dev/Scan is worthwhile for the amount I shoot at the moment.

Thanks again @Asha and @gazmorton2000 for getting a 5 year old into shooting film. I'll upload some of my OM2 shots tomorrow too although I reckon Chloe's are better..

Cheers
Steve

There's the perfect alternative to "shooting from thé hip"....... Take along a 5 year old!:D

Brilliant results for a basic piece of plastic although we all know it's not the kit that makes a good photo, but a skillful photographer:p......Very well done Chloe!;)

Any chance of persuading big brother to thé Darkside as well then ??.;)

Sorry Asha. I'm on a training course this week so haven't had chance to respond but no, I don't think Jake is as interested in film as Chloe is. He used to shoot using one of my digital compacts and got some good shots but he's at the point now where if it's not related to Minecraft he's not interested :0)

I've found this thread quite interesting, since my little boy is now currently walking round with an old practika, declaring "smiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiile" and setting the shutter off.
