ZDnet are a little wrong. Nippon Corp has averaged 14 terabits per second over a 100 mile line of fibre, back in October.

"To put the transmission into perspective, 14Tbps is enough bandwidth to download 140 high-definition movies in a single second or deliver all of YouTube's daily traffic in under 15 seconds.."

14 Terrabits / 8 gigabytes = 224 DVD's per second, but try and find a hard drive that can write that fast ;)
