Hi Guys

Anyone know anything about these things

My Sons has just come back from MS after repair.

Before it went faulty he used to connect to the internet through his PC which was connected wirelessly to the BB Modem

XBox wire PC wireless Modem

Now its come back from repair I cannot get it to connect, Fails to find IP Address, and the PC reports the same.

Nothing has changed whilst it was away so just don't know what to do to fix.

Even starting to think they have sent it back with a network fault.

Odd thing is I was doing some reading on the net and read that the xBox should be connected with a crossover cable but the cable we have is a standard strait through type.

So if it needs a crossover why did the strait through work before.

Or has someone pulled a fast one with the cable.

Thanks for any help.

I *think* the newer ones have an automatic crossover connection, if they've replaced the board with a recon old board that may be whats wrong

I don't think the cable is the problem.

What are the network settings of the XBOX? Ie is it set to be within the subset of the computer?

E.g. Computer interface is set to 192.168.2.1

XBOX is set to 192.168.2.2

If this was previously set up the settings may have been wiped by an OS/firmware upgrade.

or you could just get him a PS3 and save yourself the troubles :p:exit:

It's hard to answer your question as its a little sketchy, however whenever I had problems connecting I always turned to this website:
