Network help please.....

Quick question
-------------------
Multiple machines - Apple Mac, PC and a whole load of kids devices. If all the devices are connected via ethernet cables to the same router, what is the best way of preventing the kids devices from seeing the Apple Mac and PC.

Full scenario
----------------
Currently our home network consists of a router using multiple ssids. One for us and one for the kids. Works great, allows good QOS etc. I'm happy with all that.

From my office I use ip over mains to connect to the router. I'd like to allow one of the kids to have an ip / over mains box and connect in the same way as my office machine, BUT I don't want his devices to be able to see any of my devices. What is the best way of doing this?

Many thanks in advance.

VLAN Management.......

I know a DrayTek would be able to resolve this scenario quite easily, what router do you have?

see them or access them?

if the latter just don't give him access to the machine(s).

incidentally are the multiple SSID running different DHCP subnets? otherwise they can probably already see each other. depending on the router and/or config of course.

Do you mean access them or even see them access is easy and can all live in the same subnet not see is trickier having said that some home routers are now supporting multiple subnets orange for example

The better question is what do you mean by see? My laptop can "see" my wife's laptop on the network but couldn't access it without the appropriate username and passwords.

What you want can be achieved but the question is why bother?

Good question. I'd have to check.

Even if they are running different subnets, if the gw is the router they can likely still see each other by default, unless isolation is configured of course
