Hi Guys,

I desperately need some more space for my ever expanding photo collection. I am looking at this from Currys....

This may seem a bit dim but will it allow me to store all my photos and my Lightroom catalog on the external drive and work on them from my laptop wirelessly? If so what are the advantages and drawbacks?

Thanks in advance :)

Phil

Hmmm short of getting a new computer with a bigger hard drive what would you recommend?

Usb3 drive if your laptop has that. Not a WD mypassport or LaCie "rugged" though, they're aweful.

Remember to get two though so you have a backup.

It's an old Toshiba so no USB3 I think :(
Would USB2 just be a slower alternative?

USB2 would just be slower. If your laptop has an expresscard slot (many do) then you could get one of these to add a USB3 port. (Other adapters are available).

Thanks for the link. I'll have a look in the morning to see if I have the express card slot. That would seem a good work around.
