Ok quick question... Is there an easy way of switching between the American and UK version?

I have the American, using un block us thingy but there's a couple of things I wouldn't mind watching on the uk version but I don't want to be flaffing about etc etc

Can it be done? :D

How does the un block us thingy actually work.

(If it is how I think it is, the answer is no, but I've not read up on it)

Through the IP address.. It changes the settings
Or atleast I think that's it..
For example if the Internet misbehaves I have to log online, go to unblock us and click re-configure

yip my lad sorts it its by changing the ip

it looks like unblock us just changes the DNS settings on your computer? if so, just take those DNS settings back out so that it defaults to your ISP.

I don't know if this makes any difference but the computer hasn't been set up to configure in block us but it does via the PS3 ..

I guess the easiest solution would be to get some speakers and watch via the computer as that's UK but I don't really want to do that, if it's the easiest option I could I guess

gah, useful information is useful ;)

basically you need to undo what was done on the PS3. as youre technically breaking the rules, they aint gonna make it easy for you :)

Zenmate extension in Google Chrome, two clicks to go from UK to US.

yup..

"You may view a movie or TV show through the Netflix service primarily within the country in which you have established your account and only in geographic locations where we offer our service and have licensed such movie or TV show. The content that may be available to watch will vary by geographic location. Netflix will use technologies to verify your geographic location"

and

"You also agree not to: circumvent, remove, alter, deactivate, degrade or thwart any of the content protections in the Netflix service;"

technically you could say this thread is also against the forum rules :p

:)

I feel so naughty! :D lol

But it isn't illegal though. ;)

Anyway, the Hola plugin works well.

Damn I thought you'd come to shout at me then!

Hola sounds familiar! I'm sure I read about it in another thread awhile back

UnblockUK works by using an alternative DNS setting, whether you have configured that in you router, PC, Apple TV or any other device. To watch UK version again you will need to revert that DNS setting back to that of your ISP or you can use google open DNS which is 8.8.8.8

Remember the DNS that are there now as you will need to put them back to watch US again

To be honest I assumed I'd have to do something along those lines... I was hoping for a 'quick fix'
There only a couple of things I want to watch on the UK so I may just have to borrow my daughters iPad when she lets me :)

If you have a router with an easy to access admin panel, it might be quicker changing the DNS on the router using a PC (few clicks then type numbers) than it is through the PS3.

What router do you have?

God knows lol.. It's a BT one..I guess if it's quick and easy to change it might be an option

Ah, unlucky. BT dont allow you to change DNS settings on their home hubs. :(

Well that's bloody typical!! :D :D lol

I think I'll just stick to finding some speakers for the pc and watch any UK stuff on that... Less hassle!

erm im with bt and my lad changes the ip through my tv lol t would you like me to ask him how he sets it? i think the us one is better

Yes please :)

I'm sure before I used the unblock us thing me and my girl got the settings to change it off the internet and changed the PS3 that way, but then it stopped working and it became a nightmare..
If I knew I could put in one settings for UK and then another for US as and when etc
US is much better and my daughter wants to keep it but it would be nice if I could watch the few UK bits as well..
Greedy huh :D

i will ask him when he comes in from work my youngest lad says its the dns he changes if its the ps3 you go on to network settings, connection settings, maual setup, google american DNS domains, change the primary and secondary DNS gateways as required. It's much easier on laptops you can either do the same, use a web add on like hola(recommend this option), or use a VPN
