Lovely.And nothing at all wrong with memory shots. Those photos of their first few moments will be far more precious to you than any number of perfectly posed and lit shots.
Best wishes to Sharon for a quick and full recovery.
p.s. That Nik high key conversion that you asked about is a little too high key for me - I'd tone the brightness down a tiny bit and add some more contrast in.

Samuel (I keep getting told off for calling him Sam) and Amelia both doing OK. Lost a bit more weight than they would ideally like, but they had a tough start with Sharon being so poorly.. so lots of extra food and 3 hour feeds to get them building up...
Sharon is coming along amazingly.... Sturday an improvement on Friday, Sunday looking best, and today (other than being emotional and upset which meant I got to leave off work at 11 am and spend 10 hours with them...) is doing just great.
Did give her the big pep talk and tell her how amazing she was etc.....

Indeed.. just been on the phone to Sharon and she informs me that if neither wake up, and she goes to sleep right now, she has 1 hr 16 mins until the alarm goes off for the 1 am feed.
I laughed at the preciseness of it... not 1 and 1/4 hours as that last minute is going to make all the difference...

Somewhere in the wine rack in the shed, we have a bottle of Bollinger, that was bought for our wedding 09/09/06. Oh and a vintage Tatttinger. We always said would keep until we had the first kid,.Given Sharon is Teetotal, would it be rude for me to crack the corks one night??? (After all one for Sam(uel) and one for Amelia)

Tomorrow sees the day they come home.. could have been tonight but looking at approx a midnight discharge.... (Sam was slightly jaundiced this morning, enough to repeat tests at 8.30 pm and they had dropped loads...)

Is it wrong of me to give either Sharon or my Dad a quick imprompu lesson in digital photography... I Have a great idea for a fantastic shot .. it's just I need one of them to more or less lay on the ground and do it..... Dad is 74 and Sharon had a csec 6 days ago... but a totally cool idea..

As to the pic idea
More or less pulled it off....
Few weddings I have done../seconded at usually get the groom ushers, best man fathers etc to do the "reservoir dogs" shot... Gave Sharon a 5 min lesson on the ward and this is what we got...
I meant to change the focus to AF-C, and auto select focal point, but forgot...

Totally and utterly..... mate (just to upset those who don't like people calling people mate!)
It's literally like a flick has been switched...(just reading through after posting and realise that is back to front, but I am leaving it in, as an indicator as to how much I am not that awake with it!)Never been in a position where have had to deal with very small children on any level... ok friends have had them.. "would you like to hold him/her"... "No, of course not, don't be stupid!"
Midwife taught me how do do a nappy change.. as I had genuinely never ever done one.. she did Sam, and then made me do Amelia... I was crapping bricks thinking I would break her.. but my confidence has come on in leaps and bounds....... wouldn't say I am chucking them about as such.. but they are far more resilient and flexible than I thought they would be..
It's a totally awesome experience... I am on "stag duty" as the moment while Sharon gets a bit of a combat kip, she is drained, physically, mentally and emotionally.. they are next to me, Amelia is beginning to stir for the 1.30 am feed, Sam is uber chilled and you have to wake him up...
Yeah, a totally life exchanging experience... no idea what I am running on, though there may be a particularly very well known grouse involved... as it is their first night home, and I thought some kind of dad time is in order...
The cat is more chilled than I expected though...

When my wife said she wanted kids I thought are you mad, they will mess up the garden I've spent so much time on.
After my first child nothing else mattered, fcuk the garden and everything else...
News like e.g April Jones really upset me now, where as before it was just News
And yes, that responsibilty you have, handling, bathing, cuddling and changing shi77y nappies, and just being responsible for the life of a small baby is intense...x2 in your case.

Welcome home mum, dad and the brats
Have her on an arm as I speak. Off for a 2hr combat kip if i am lucky...... Sharon is upstairs on si77y nappy duties. I have a feeling the next one is going to be huge... as i can feel her farting...
