Neighbours.

Ahhhh...I fought you was agreeing wiff me :D

You mention EastEnders, Dale. In the back of my mind I recall that one character (completely bald) who was particularly nasty..Phil ? I've done a check. I see he had a 'brother' Grant. Bald too and also very nasty. So,I could have been looking at either as it seems that both were permanently on an ultra-agressive high. Nastiness personified. Mr Bad Guy as Freddie Mercury would say (album)... :) I also recall radio shows like Five Live making a real issue out of whats going to happen in that evening's episode. Will Phil or whoever..maybe Grant having seen his profile, beat up whoever .Infact, I've just had a look and this Grant chap had an affair with his sister-in-law. Kathy, Phil's wife.

Neighbours.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Paul Robinson's hotel opening..the Lassiters hotel, he chartered a flight from Australia to Tasmania taking many Ramsay Street residents with him. Lovely idea. So far,so good. ..but that doesn't make for 'good telly', so..the script-writers had another brain- storming session. After a short while another of them shouts 'Eureka ! I have it. "How about we get someone to plant a bomb on board ". "Brilliant" said the fellow co-writers. "You are clever coming up with such great ideas" said one of them.. And so it was. The bomb exploded as the plane was in mid-air causing it to crash into the Bass Strait (separating the two countries). All three members of the Bishop family who were on board died. The father,Harold Bishop, didn't go on the trip. Those who were killed were his son David, daughter in-law Liljana and granddaughter Serena. Their bodies were never recovered. Harold Bishop not being on board was a clever addition to the plot, with something else in mind. It's called 'forward thinking'. "Mmm. What now", said the script writers." I'd thought of that", said the one who had dreamt up the crash scenario.. Harold Bishop blames Paul Robinson for the deaths of his family and strangles him" What do you all think ?" . 'Wow"..said one of the writers. You are so talented. Where do you get these ideas ? I'd never have thought of that"" And so it was. One day, with revenge eating away at him,Harold Bishop went to the home of Paul Robinson and strangled him leaving him on the floor in the entrance area of his home to be found by his wife when she ran downstairs, in excitement, to suggest they go away together for a couple of days. Harold Bishop was then shown going back to his home with bloodied hands and pulling petals off a rose that was in his front garden. It seems that Paul Robinson didn't die and forgave HB,as you do. Turns out the person who placed the bomb on the plane was Robinson's son who wanted rid of his father. 'Appy families and all that...

You can't beat a good soap,Dale.....:)

Yes, Neighbours does have its moments. ;)

raise you the Jasper Carrot version.

Two points about that - I've never been known as "Noddy" and Florence was my Grandmother's name! As for being the biggest ram around, that may have been some years ago...

Ah,yes. I thought someone would say that. I really should have addressed it. :)

When I say ' I've never watched one' I mean right the way through and week after week. I saw enough of the snippets I did see, along with ads..ie heads-up,on them, to know that it wasn't the kind of entertainment I would want to spend time watching. There's enough grief (domestic and otherwise) in the real world without having it beamed into your living room under the spurious guise of 'entertainmment' .Bear in mind that the sociologist in the studio agreed with me.I assume she was brought in as an expert so she will have watched them.

People don't have to be an expert in any matter to have a valid opinion about it. You just have to have a general awareness.

Also, please note that Dale (OP) was honest enough to acknowledge the points I brought up with a 'like' and fair play to him for that.
I know what you mean John I once watched half an episode of Star Trek NASA haven’t stopped bothering me since for my expert advice

Who would've thunk this thread would've gotten to 2 pages?

All I expected was something along the lines of "Dale, you don't watch that nonsense do you? Sad".

It's actually morphed into a cultural and mostly, ethical debate. :naughty:
