.NEF in Photoshop / LightRoom

Hi,

Having a bit of trouble processing images from my new D3000 in OSX.

OK, so I import the .NET from the camera to my desktop. When I try to open the file in CS4 I get the message saying "this file is not recognisable in CS4". BUT when using LightRoom2 this file is fully visible and can be used in this programme.

I've looked at the latest CamerRaw plug in is installed and I can't think of a reason why this type of file wouldn't work on one Adobe product and not another.

Am I missing something and being thick or is this type of file incompatible with CS4 (until an update is available?)

Appreciate any advise anyone may have.

Doesn't sound like you've got the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw for Photoshop to me... You can download it FOC from the adobe website

for some reason downloading and installing the Raw update wasn't installing to CS4, just LR2.

Ended up copying the Plug-In file directly to the CS4 directory folders, that seemed to have works (although it's now showing 2 Raw Plug-In's in the 'About Plug-In' section).

One of the RAW plug ins is the original one. Ideally you should remove the old one .But if it isn't hurting anything leave it there

I have never managed to get the update to work properly with photoshop CS3/CS4, I just do it manually every time now, couriously lightroom works faultlessly every time.
