Hi all,

Can I get some feedback on your thoughts about cheaper camera grips rather than branded ones? I was trying to find a decent price for a Nikon MB-D15 for my D7100 and came across this cheaper version. I know you get what you pay for and to be honest I personally do prefer to buy branded and pay that bit more, but I recently thought that if I can save money and buy the alternative and get the same results then I might give it a try.
My missus was trying to talk me into buying cheaper Speedlights for my camera but typical me went for the branded SB ones. If anyone has used the cheaper ones please let me know your thoughts. Cheers guys and gals..

I had the neewer on my d7000 and currently have meike on my d7100 and both work just fine with a good solid feel. The price of the real deal is too many pennies for me hence the cheapo versions. :D

Thanks for that David. In your opinion then, which is best out of the 2 cheapo versions? :p

Either! They pretty much the same

I had Meike grips for both my D7000 and my D7100 and felt they were fine for the job at hand. All the buttons worked no problem and the dials were nice. Actually preferred the rubber on them to the stuff on the camera!

IIRC Neewer and Meike is all the same kit in different boxes.

There are some who say if you've spent that much on a camera and lenses then you should buy the legit grip too, but we each have different priorities and the price difference between a legit one and the 3rd party can be a fair chunk on the way to another lens.

EDIT: I had a legit grip on my D80 too.

As above, they're pretty much the same. I ordered a Meike for my D7000 and actually recieved a Neewer from the seller.

I've never tried an OEM grip to know the difference but I know what £100+ feels like. :D

I also use Ex-Pro batteries which seem to be better than the originals too.

I've had a d90 and d7k with genuine grips and swore I'd keep using them then when I got my d7100 I was a bit tight on budget so bought one for 28 quid on the bay of E! I cannot tell the difference..... Honestly I cant
