I upgrade to a D7100 body few weeks back and cannot get used to having no grip, looking at the prices i was gutted to see £40 upwards for the cheap ones, anyway after few days looking i came across the Neewer grip for £30.42 with free delivery so I had to order it.

I had the Neewer grip on my D90 for 4yrs and it still looks like new and works perfectly, fits tightly too so when i spotted this for the D7100 i had to buy it. It turned up today and as per last one fits tightly, feels and looks like part of the camera, 2nd Nikon battery due tomorrow or Saturday so havent tested that yet but so far im well happy with it, highly recommended unless you have lots of spare cash sitting around to buy the Nikon one!

Here is the link to the one purchased....

Hope this helps those trying to decide what to do

I have the Meike one, seems ok so far too

Has anybody any views on the Pixel Pro grip? Available for £55 on Amazon and seems to be well rated there.

Just wondering if it's worth £25 more than the Neewer?

My Meike grip came in 3 days from the ebay seller :)

I thought the same first time round for the D90 but after experiencing 2 Neewer grips 4 yrs aparts i can see no reason to spend a penny more

Thanks Mike. Think I'll take the plunge on the Neewer.

Cheers

Same as with the d7000, one battery in camera one in the grip.

Maybe so but that only adds to the fact that its a **** design with the d7000 also. Why on earth would they make it like that?

Agree, I would have got one for my D7000 but don't want the hassle of taking it on and off to charge battery's, plus the battery in D7000 last's an age

The grip on my d300s has one battery in camera and one in the grip but It's set to use the grip battery first and it lasts me an eternity so not much hassle with changing them:)

I agree this is the way to have it.. but do you know when it switches over? And why design it so poorly? Canon have a tray nikon have a disaster :s

I've seen plenty of people order the Neewer one on Amazon and get the Meike by the way.

I had a legit grip on my D80, and a Meike one on my D7000. Cannot see me ever buying a legit grip again. Rubber, buttons and dials on the Meike felt fantastic regardless of the fact it was only £35.

I think the d80 grip was for 2 batteries also

It was.

The D80 had the connectors up inside the camera housing, the D7000 has them on the bottom.

No D7000 or D7100 grip, including official ones, hold 2 batteries. Actually is seems other Nikon grips don;t hold 2 batteries either.

another vote here for the meike grip, great value and decent enough build quality :)
