Hey, im taking a series of photos for my college project. The idea was to take inspiration from a famous photo; I chose Irving Penns frozen foods with string beans.

In my proposal I said I was going to study "colour and texture within a macro setting." I also mentioned I would be using a simple white/grey background because Penn was the first to use it. (Im going to try and make my own light/soft box.)

For other projects ive used flowers so im trying to stay away from that area, or at least not soley submit flower photos! The topic is pretty broad but im struggling to think of interesting ideas. :bang:

Ive got some flowers and some oranges in the freezer though, about to go and have a go at those.

Any ideas?

HI Tina Louise. Good luck with your project. As it is macro and to do with texture - have you thought about opening your food cupboard? I can think coffee beans; pepper corns; pasta; rice etc. etc.

However, if you want to keep away from food then what about different colours and textures of material/cloth? Denim on cord; ribbon on felt. different felts; open up your clothes drawers; shoe and belt cupboard and see what happens. Pencil parings?
