I am really struggling to think of how I want it setting out, what links Ill need etc.

Ive basically got in my mind I want a mostly black site, with my name and links in dark pink text (dont laugh, I am a girl after all )

Anyone got any good links to some templates? Or fellow TP'er sites? I need ideas damn it :D And someone to do it for me if you want some extra cash :D

Cheers dude

I have another question, what fonts will I be allowed to use? Ive seen some nice ones from dafont.com, but they are all free, so guessing I cant use those?

For the font to be seen by the viewer it must be installed on their PC otherwise they will just see a system font as a replacement. Its better to use fonts that come pre-installed in windows for text displays. You could use your fonts in a logo that is saved as a gif or other graphic image.

Quite so. I'd like to add that it's a good practice to set e generic font family and use a fairly generic font, if you want to be sure it won't look totally different on every other computer.

Like GarynLea's mentioned, you can use any font you like to if you save it as an image, but be aware of the fact that it's good to optimise images on your site for size.
If there are less than 256 colours in your image, use PNG or GIF (PNGs tend to be smaller unless the file size is really small).
For your shots, I'd suggest using about 90% for the full/medium size images for the web and 75-85% for thumbnails (75% is usually enough).

Thanks everyone :)

Well it turns out, the fella knows more about this than he was letting on :p So what I want to ask now is, can anyone recommend any decent WordPress plugins? Ive found a half decent template I am going to use until I have to money to get something better designed.

I want the front page to have different links to different styles of photos, such as Portraits, Animals, Still Life, Contact Me etc... and is there a way to have maybe three or four photos rotate every few seconds on the front page also?

Does this need to be moved to another forum? :D

Would you consider a free template type webpage to be unprofessional guys? This isnt a business I am running, otherwise I would shell out for something better, its all about getting my stuff online for people to see, and for friends to pass onto other friends, thats all. Will it suffice for now? :)

Ill trawl through the plugins shortly :)

hmm personally I dont like template sites.

I think you should find a good CSS template and then adapt it to suit your needs (colours etc).. the only problem is putting the pictures in, as you would need to get a gallery somehow!

If you need some help I might be able to, CSS and simple coding stuff.

Agreed. A little bit of imagination goes a long way to making your site unique.

meh, all my sites are on templates, I've never had a problem... but I do customise them quite a bit, so I'm not sure whether you'd know they were a template.

Look out at the masses... how many people using the net as a whole would know whether your site was a template or not? 1%, 2%? Not many I'd guess

Thats pretty nice :)

I say I dont use templates, what I do is ill see something I like and then re-create it with my own code and slight changes. So my website is actually in the style of another website that i saw which I liked.

If you need any help with worpress let me know its pretty easy to setup. My site is all wordpress.

I'm sure there are plugins for the rotating header. but you could always have an animated GIF do it for you.

^^^Thanks for that :)

Not sure if its just my connection, but it took a long time to load for me :(

Thanks Mercury, I am open to any suggestions
