Need some help with names

I've got quite a bit of equestrian work on this year and have decided to seperate this side of my work from the weddings and just use greenlees-photography.com for that side of it.

I will be using my old Photium site for the equine stuff but I'm having trouble coming up with a name for it, I love horsepowerphotography.com/co.uk but it is already in use quite local so I don't want to cause confusion or bad feeling. I'm not sure whether to use my surname for this site, it is easily remembered and quite a few people know me already in the areas I will be working but it is a bit of a mouthful.

Ideas so far:

greenleesequinephotography.com (a bit too much! :D)

Just use your name, thats what I do lol and cover all the events.
That way they will learn who you are and word of mouth will get round to the other type of events that you do.
taht way there is a focal point to your work... YOU!! then they only have to remember one site name :)
 
Will you be relying on people find you through search engines or just word of mouth? Key words in the website's domain name tends to help a lot I've found.

Probably a pro web designer could advise better though.

You want something easy to remember so I would just go with your name, as most people around the shows get to know the photographers by name anyway.

At the shows where there is a ring (or arena) people will go up to you and ask or have a chat so they will get to know your name if they don't already and picking up a card does not always work as they are very easy to lose in the trailer or lorry when all the equipment is being taken out afterwards.
 
I think definately your name, Colin. It is easier remembered.

on that site you could then go off to either horses or weddings by clicking different links. :shrug:

You're right Janice, I think I'm going to stick with greenlees-equine.com because of the consistency.

Just been thinking about it and I asked a couple of friends who agree, the ones I know best are syimages (susan young) and jtphotography (john tyrell) and anthony reynolds - the others all merge into each other so I think your name has to be the way to go, especially as you already have a site thats established that people are using so they will associate you with greenlees (I cannot use the site as no flash on this computer so I'm not sure how its set up) and assuming you have already been doing events and yard visits the name will carry on through.

I'd personally advise against using a hyphen in a URL. Doesn't roll off the tongue, and I for one always try a two word URL as hyphenless.

How about photojockey.co.uk :D

I'd go with the name myself as the main site, and then register another domain (EH horseyphotos.com as a redirect to your main site).

Sort of, I'm closer to London but I do travel into your area sometimes if friends are competing there, if I head that way again I'll drop you a pm and see if you will be at the same place :)
