As thread title I have a Sony and the battery only lasts for minutes... I wondered whether anyone had a supplier/make for OEM that they would recommend?!

Cheers,

I use the Chinese guys on Ebay. They last about 18 months heavy use - which is what the branded (Made in China!) ones do.

If your not bothered about the make, then ebay is best place. I have got a few from hong kong, and they seem to be ok, been using on for about 9 months now, and also replaced one on a laptop i sold lastyear to a friend and not had any issues...

Battery turned up, fits fine and appears to match the original but wont charge. When I first put it in the laptop it showed a rather mysterious 69% full +1hr 40mins. It lasted about 20mins and then shut off. The screen icon says plugged in but not charging, swopped for old on eand that charges ok. I am running vista could it be a software issue?!

Cheers,

Dunc

Duncan.F, I am having a similar problem with Dell laptop, running Vista. 'Battery plugged in, not charging.' Yet over the past 2 weeks on about 3 occasions it has re-charged fully.I use an independent computer technician, and he thinks that it is a design fault, and that a group in the USA is looking at a lawsuit against the manufacturers. I use mine on the mains the whole time, and there are different opinions as to whether the battery should be in the machine the whole, and end up being 'cooked'.

Try mdsbattery.co.uk always found they have a good selection of replacement batteries.

Looks like my battery in the Dell 1545 has failed completely. Even put it in the freezer for 16 hours, and tried it again after it had reached room temperature. Not a peep from it, so now looking for a new battery.

I also bought a replacment battery from ebay, has lasted nearly a year and still going fine;)
