ok guys thought i would get some advice and options before i embark on a mammoth mission.
I have 34gigs of images jpegs and since i started shooting in raw the raw file to go with it. I also have all the pics archived as tiff files.
I have never kept them in a library just using windows picture viewer to look back at pics. None have key words.
currently i import into lightroom edit then export and deleate the raw from LR's library. But its getting very difficult to find photos and many of my older photos to be honest arnt all that and my early editing left a lot to be desired. now a lot of these pics are on flickr.
So im thinking of imprting them all into a lr library. so the way i see my options are this.
the easy way
improt the tiff files for the already edited pics to lr, add key words and delete any rubbish i find.
the long winded way
for the images i have raw files on import the raws and re-edit to see if my improved knowledge can make anything better of the pics. again deleting rubbish and adding key words as i go. For the images i like but dont have raw files on import the tiff files.
and from now on import the raw files and keep them there.
Then export jpegs for ease of use eg uploaded to web and using as desk tops etc.
Should i then export tiffs for archiving as well??
was thinking of just putting the family snapshots in another file and ignoring them - which is mostly what i do with them anyway. Looking abck at them when i fancy reminising.
Any suggestions? what would you do in my position?
