im having real trouble finding camera insurance. i bought a D700 secondhand and i want to insure it against breakdown cover, but i cant find a company to insure it, is it too old ive got the recipt from the person ive bought it off but not the original from the shop, can anyone give me a handfull of links or anything to try?

I use Photoguard but others do use others. Choose the value at which a replacement will cost you obviously. Alternatively, the relative inexpensive cost of replacement would fit in your home insurance if have one arranged (special item).

Also use Photoguard but never had to make a claim touch-wood :) Cost me £30 for cover of up to £900 so not too bad really, im not a pro though and didnt pay for any extras, just used it incase I dropped something in a puddle or whatever.

Have you tried D&G .I have had insurance with them and seemed good. Also best bet is probably contents insurance with accidental cover. They are good.

Look at Aaduki.

Just taken a policy out with Aaduki, best value for the cover I needed. Also think they do "all risk" cover which probably includes the breakdown element you want..worth giving them a call

Alll risks is not the same as breakdown cover. All risks covers accidental loss or damage outside the home, eg dropping your camera in a river, or knocking over your camera whilst it's on a tripod

You are unlikely to find breakdown cover for a second hand camera. Generally breakdown policies are poor value. Modern cameras are generallly very reliable and you should just bear the risk yourself

You think??

Apologies for confusing the situation... obviously got it wrong with the breakdown cover... I'd recommend Aaduki for anyone needing business related photography insurance though
