Need an online gallery (perhaps)

After we had to stop snapping weddings in 2011 , we eventually took our website and blog offline. This has never mattered to me or to anybody else, but now that I'm wading in with critiques on here, I feel it's only right that anyone who wants to can see what we used to do, so that, if nothing else, they know where I'm coming from.

I've just realised that I might be able to locate a HDD which should have on it the image files from the portfolio slideshows which we used on our website. If I can find them, the images will be 700 x 500px stroked 5px white, and ideally I'd like to be able to simply upload a bunch of those to somewhere as a gallery.

It needs to be free, and it needs to be private in the sense that access is only via a link to it. I haven't a clue where to start, because I've only ever used our own site, the blog on that, and a couple of WP blogs I subsequently ran.

Any ideas, please?

Does flickr screw up how your files look at all?

It can if you upload massive files that you want to display smaller, especially since recent changes where it seems to have been an issue that wasn't present before [and also seems quite random, with only some photos affected]. However, based on your comments about 700 x 500, shouldn't be a problem. You can certainly set all your photos to be private and still share them here for example as individual jpgs. In terms of sharing an entire gallery at once, I think you can whilst they are still private, but it something I have never tried, so might require someone with a better understanding of flickr to answer that bit ;)

Cheers guys :) It's the gallery thing that I'm after really. I just want to put a bunch of snaps (100? dunno) together in one place so that if anybody ever wonders what ours were like, they can get an impression. Of course this will only work if I can find the elusive archive hdd ...

ETA - Problem solved. I've found some of the files and will knock up a simple WP blog. That should serve the purpose ...

Cheers Sarah. I'm getting there, but all I've been able to find is the pages as the site was when we took it down and the shots that made up the portfolio slideshow at that time. It'll give you some idea though.

Oh poo! Investigations now ongoing ...

ETA - I need to make it public as opposed to private, so hang on minute :)

ETA again - try it now?

It's nice to see some of your work Sid - to see where you are coming from. Above all its nice and bright and clear. Does have a Documentary feel to it.

Sid it's really nice to see your work thank you for sharing with us

As I've said elsewhere, it's nothing special and it's definitely not to everybody's taste, but it's what we enjoyed doing and it gave us a good enough standard of living for ten years ...

Good stuff Sid. I'd be dead chuffed to achieve that standard.

It's also fantastic to have an experienced tog who's willing to take the time to give detailed crit as you do.

Cheers Patrick. We all start from the same place ... :)
