My son is in photography in school and has to take pictures of himself they give him themes daily today's was 7 seconds I was wondering if someone could give me some advice or an example of this

He knows this I am just wanting to give him some ideas what it means im not familiar with this I can help him in all of his studys but this and we like to take pictures together now but are needing to learn more he has an iep so is a little slow in learning so I have to give extra help

How about this.

An open area local to you, a shopping centre perhaps, where there are lots of people milling about. Then with a suitable camera on a tripod take a photo of exactly seven seconds exposure time. It'll be enough to blur the movement and 'ghost' the passers by.

This will depend,of course, on what photographic equipment he has available to him. Will he use his own or borrow it from the school?

Or take 7 "freeze frame" shots of something happening and them into a montage (could be pretty much anything where there's a build up and then some action, e.g. ice bucket challenge).

Actually taking a penalty is one that might appeal to him. You have the run up, hitting the ball, ball in the air, shot of the keeper, ball in the net and celebration. It tells a story, etc as well.

A cat jumping from ground to the top of a fence (or anything high) would be beautiful,

Post processed to show the cats movement in the 7 seconds of movement i.e. the bum wiggle, the punch all the way to the landing.

There are some good ideas on here but since you mentioned that it needs to be a photo of himself some may not work. Personally I quite like the shopping centre idea but he could feature in the foreground frozen still whilst the world carries on behind him. A rear curtain flash ccould be used or he'll have to stand very still!

Sit him on bench or a low wall. More chance of him staying still for seven seconds if he's sat down.
