So i woke up this morning, thermostat must have gone on my aquarium heater cos it was over 34degrees! so i let the water cool for a few hours before removing it, then I removed it and it smashed!

So...

I hunt for the receipt.... no luck, but i have the bag and box it came with clearly labelled up as the shops item but the guy says he can't do me a refund as he needs a valid receipt so he can claim it back off the supplier.

Is he right or should I be able to exchange it since its under 6 months and I payed on card so he should have it on record??

Could you buy another one and use that receipt to get a refund for the first one? I mean, after all, it is faulty :shrug:

I have done that a few times with headphones that kept going. Have changed brands now.
 
Are the fish OK ? I had a friend who lost an entire marine tank cos one tank heater blew and tripped the fuse whilst he was away for the weekend. Came back to a cold tank and a fair few (expensive) dead fish :-(
