What sort of load will it need to support ? Also totally agree with the s/h route, tripods seem to be the most purchased and least used items of photo kit around
This can be very true but usually by beginners who start photography and think buying a tripod is one of the essential pieces of kit. Usually it's the cheaper and less stable end of the range that is likely replaced later on when they find what the reasons for and why tripods are used/purchased. I say this as I fell into this trap as a beginner. I'm now a tripod convert as 70-80% of my photography is done using a tripod, either as a stable base for landscapes or to take the weight of a long lens for wildlife (I've never got on with monopods).
Sadly the velbon tripod my mother kindly gave me is starting to show quite a bit of wear on the leg clamps & one leg fell out the other day so I think it's time for a new tripod. Sadly don't have much money so hoping someone might have some recommendations for a tripod under £100
I'm guessing as you already have a tripod you have a need for one rather than you feel it should need one. What are your feelings on used? Buying used from good companies (WEX,
MPB,
LCE, mifsuds etc) can nearly be like buying new but without the higher cost. I usually buy most of my gear used as it's much more cost effective and you can buy so very condition kit that nearly like buying new.
If used is ok
MPB (usually highly recommended on here) have a manfrotto 190xprob aluminium tripod with a 322RC2 joystick head for £79.99. It's described as like new, it may not have a box but I would say it's a better buy than those Amazon ones.

A you tube review of the joystick head is below:

I'm not sure whether the joystick head would be right for you, Im not sure if the joystick has to be held closed for movement or if it can be locked open. It may be worth watching a few you tube videos to get a feel for it.

The manfrotto 190xprob series is pretty good for the price. It will easily do what you need it to and have room to grow with a dslr and 300/400mm lens. If you want to change the head in the future you can with the manfrotto 190xprob. I'm not sure if the ones you linked to from Amazon are a combined tripod and head that can't be split apart. Buying separate tripod legs and head is a great way to get the kit to work for you. Different heads are perfected by different photographers, gimbal heads are preferred by wildlife/ action photographers, 3 way heads by landscape photographers whilst ball and joystick heads can be used for both.
