I currently use a pc that's too slow for photoshop and lightroom and think it's about time to upgrade... the one I have works but is slooooooow

So what should I be looking out for when purchasing a new pc for photo editing? I regularly have Photoshop, Lightroom, Adobe Bridge, Firefox, Spotify and various other things all open at the same time, so need something that will handle this with ease.

I've seen this one of eBuyer but I've no idea just how good it really is for the type of thing I want to do on it?

Id go direct to Chillblast or do a custom build.

Try get i5 or i7, 8GB+ RAM, SSD would be nice for OS and apps and a separate HDD for storage.

Thanks will get in touch with them. I have 2 seperate HDD's for storage and cloud space too so thankfully I'm ok on that part at least!

Any idea how they compare price wise? always kind of expect a custom build to cost a bomb?

Customs are very well priced but as usual depends on who you go to, Chillblast is a good company (some are dodgy with poor power supplies etc), the first link I posted is also customisable depending on your budget. Just click customise at the bottom.

Thanks for that mate really appreciate it! Looks like I can get a really good system for pretty cheap :)

No problem, cheaper if you build yourself but not by that much and you get peace of mind.

I used to be able to do that tbh but it's been over 10 years since I last did one and the stress involved woulnd't be worth the savings
If anything, it actually got easier. There are no more pins on CPUs to be bent, the coolers are pretty straight forward to attach and if you do everything barefooted, you should be grounded well enough not to cause electrostatic damage.

Big advantage of self-constructed is that you can chose components that will be quiet in operation. It might be a bit OOT, but check out silentpcreview.com.

I have a Chillblast system...can't fault the experience.

Working a full time job + doing the photography as a business means anything else I pay people to do... not enough hours in the day tbh and I nearly flooded the house trying to fix the loo yesterday so all in all I'm better off not attempting this myself
