Thanks to Gary, he pointed me in this direction.Ordered Sunday, delivered yesterday. Will take the Sigma 3-800 without body attached. Seems a good long lens bag, plenty of pockets, tripod mount, flask and sarnie holder.

Will do a full review when I have used it in anger.

Half Price Goodness

Nice one Ade, and I got the blame for you spending money :D

I have been considering this for my new 500mm but at over £200 just too expensive. I wonder how long this offer will last and I will be VERY interested in your review.

Donna, Gary has one, maybe he could shed some light.

All I can say is that it looks the business, have not used it yet, but I can get the big Sigma in it, a gripped D700 in with the lens with room for a smaller lens if needed. The top compartment will take a box of sandwiches easily. It has a detachable, reversible rain cover. The front compartment will easily take the raincover, memory card in small pockets, spare batteries and other bits and bats that we take. The tripod and head fastens securely to one side whilst there is an external pocket for drink bottle/flask on the other. Quick look at the meagre instruction book,it seems that you can get a device to enable the tripod to be mounted on the front for better balance if walking a long way. The shoulder straps and belt loop is fully adjustable. The waist belt has two zipped pockets for putting other bits in and it looks like the whole lot comes off so you can use it as a belt system on its own.The top storage comes off as well. It is comfy to wear, but I have only adjusted the harness for me and not walked a long way, but I think it will be ok.

Damned good saving as well.

And yep, Gary, it is your fault............:)

Thanks Ade, sounds really good. My trouble is having just shelled out a shedload on a 500 f/4, money is a tad tight right now.

Donna

Had my bag for a couple of weeks and to add to what Ade has already said it comes with a snap lock tripod strap so can carry a tripod on either the left or right side securely. Also in the bag is an extra tripod pouch that can be set up for carrying on the front if you have a long tripod. I have a Redsnapper at the moment and it fits perfectly on the side. I keep my Manfrotto 393 in the top carry pouch but it is a squeeze. Two additional straps are included for securing items/clothing to the outside of the bag either below, on the side, or on the front of the bag. The bag offers a full length zip to get at the lens or you can easily open the top lid and get the lens out without opening the zip the full length. It easily takes my D90 attached to my 200-400 with a smallspace at the bottom of the bag where I keep the double sided rain cover, additional straps and extra tripod pocket. Once the straps are adjusted for personal preference it is extremely comfotable to wear. Last week I had the bag on for over 5 miles with no issues, waist belt and chest strap aid comfort.

I have to say I am extremely impressed with this bag and even more so with the price Amazon are doing them for.

I don't mind if you want to blame me if you get one Donna you may aswell, Ade has already blamed me :D:D

Too much, and I had to sell my 300 f/2.8 to fund it. I know the price of a bag is insignificant compared to the lens but for transportation I will use the supplied flight case and I am a bit long in the tooth for long treks carrying birding kit these days so it is a nicety rather than essential right now.

Donna i have the Lens Trekker AW600 which take the 500 f4 with body atteched and holds everything very secure with plenty of padding where required. I picked mine up for around £85.

Had this bag for some while now and carried it a fair few miles. I`m very impressed with its comfort and ability to hold what you need for a days wildlife shooting. The main compartment will take my 3-800 Sigma, a gripped D700/300,assorted waterproof covers,SB 600 and the 120-300 if I want to carry all that weight..........:shake:........Tripod and head is fine on the side, have not used the additional front attachment yet. Other side pocket takes a flask with ease. Front pocket holds cards, batteries and stuff like that.Top pocket holds a tupperware box with remotes, hat, gloves and most importantly,my nosh for the day. I have not used the pockets built into the waist support, but I suppose you could get other smallish items in there.

Good bag for long lens users.

So Ade did you get this from Amazon & will you be sticking a review in on there as well to help others that are looking for a similar bag

Donna I got the Lowepro Trekker AW600II for my 500 f4 and camera.

The trouble with the Kata stuff is the yellow lint from the padding gets everywhere. Shame as they are very well made bags.

Tenba used to do a really good long lens case, but it appears they are discontinued.
