Hi all,
I've been getting more and more into off camera flash so now have 3 light stand, 3 flash heads and brackets for the stand plus brollies and a collapsable 60cm softbox. Ideally I would like to chuck it all into a lightweight carry bag/holdall/ tripod bag kind of thing but am strapped for cash so as cheap as possible with some quality is my aim. Any ideas please?

Depends how big your stands are but I used an unpadded Manfrotto MBAG80 for a couple of Calumet lightstands & a monopod. Easy to carry and the wider end of the bag is useful for cramming other bits and pieces in.

Will have a closer look at that, however I suspect being manfrotto it ain't cheap!

what about a cricket/sports roller bag type.. when I purchased a 3 head kit with stands it came with a bag very similar.

Good shout David and certainly helpful to manouvre when I've got 2 bags of camera gear and other stuff to lug into offices, houses, conference settings, wedding etc etc!

I've no doubt loads of folk take up golf for "The Wrong" reasons and later give up...I'll bet there's loads of second hand golf trolley/bags out there, Gumtree etc.

You are probably right but I'm not sure how my clients would react if I turned up lugging a golf bag on my shoulder. I like the idea of a wheeled sports bag as I often have to lug my gear through a maze of offices and laboratories when I'm shooting commercial stuff and environmental portraits.

I have used some old roller bags from an army surplus before, they were cheap and lasted well. May be worth a look.

Good shout Tim, army surplus stores seem few and far between on the high street these days, Can't remember the last time I saw one?

Hockey bag. Will cost you less than £20 from a High Street sports shop. I've used one for several years after seeing a recommendation on Strobist.

Don't let vanity get in the way of utility.

There seems to be a fair few online but as you say not may left in towns.

Perfect, just placed my order. Thanks a lot fir the link.

I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I throw the smaller bits and bobs (clamps, etc) in a small shoe bag. Easy to fish out when you need it. If memory serves me right, I've got 3 light-stands, two booms, 3 umbrellas, a tripod (in a padded tripod bag), a collapsable background stand and a backdrop stand in mine and there's still room for more.

Sounds ideal as I'm planning on sticking 3 light stands, 3 brollies, a reflector stand, tripod and light meter, sync cables and 3 yongnuo flash heads and controller in it.
Many thanks again.
