I am looking to replace the standard neck strap that came with my Canon 50D as it is shockingly uncomfortable.
I quite the look of the new Crumpler Singapore Sling but thought I would ask all fellow togs to see if there is anything else you would recommend.

Budget is in the £20-£30 bracket.

Thank you.

optech USA. or the kood knock off's they are really comfy and dont cut or put strain on the neck!

Optech from this bunch on ebay. 2 days direct from the USA. Brilliant, can wander around all day with a gripped 7D and 70-200 round my neck now, if needs must

Thank you all, Optech seem to be quite a popular choice.

Darn... I'm tempted to get the optech as well from that ebay store. The knockoff matin ones that I use right now is extremely comfy, but I fear for the reliability of a 2 quid strap...Then again more expensive isn't necessarily always better :D

Ive been using those Optech Pro loop straps for a few years now and they are really comfortable.
The best thing (for me) is i tend to just use the two short parts as a kind of safety wrist strap, in fact i cant remember the last time i used the neck part but i do remember it was very comfortable. Its got just the right amount of bounce in it.

++++ that

if you buy secondhand make sure it has the camera attachments (buckle) as well i think there not that cheap on there own,

i have one fitted on my 5D bit of a struggle getting the camera clips on but there very secure.

can carry 5D gripped with 70 200 2.8 very comfortably

i think there one on flea-bay for £16.95 or best offer

merc

From what others are saying the clips do hold very well even after years of use. I just bought the super classic version with pro loop on ebay so I guess I'll find out soon if these are any good.

Optech

Are the optech ones secure? It is just the clips that concern me, especially with a heavy body like a 1D2
I've had no issues with the clips (or anything else) on any of my optech straps. One is > 10 years old and carries a gripped 7D + 70-200 f2.8 (often with an extender) quite easily. Others are used for heavier gear and cope just as well.

They just wouldn't sell if they weren't secure. I had 2 with sling adapters. Since I use a neck strap once in a blue moon so got rid of them.

I'm using a freebie I got from "smugmug", comfy all day and doesn't slip off my shoulder, don't know if they're still giving them away.?

The smugmug one is the China made neoprene strap you can get from ebay for really cheap. They posted a blog entry about the plastic clips failing so be sure to ask for the replacement strap with better clips.
