Hi all

I walk miles with my Sigma 50-500mm hanging round my neck with monopod in hand, does anyone make a pad/cushion that will slide on the sigma strap and ease my suffering:'(.

Thanks
Brian [with bald sore neck:(]

Have you tried something like a Sunsniper strap? Much more comfortable than a standard neck strap.

Sunsniper

Hi and thanks for the tip;) never heard of these before so will check them out.

It's not actually my camera strap that's the problem but the thinner strap supplied by Sigma which attaches to the bottom of the lens, not sure how I'd fit a different strap to that yet but there must be a way:thinking:.

Thanks
Brian

I maybe sound thick but isnt there a kind of bag you can get that will make your life easier?

I've not heard of anything like that.

It's not while I'm transporting it but while I'm using it, I like walking around with my gear all set up and camera/lens mounted on the monopod ready to use. I have the lens strap round my neck with the monopod under my arm and when needed this can be quickly dropped to the floor ready to take the picture, not one for sitting in a hide especially when it's cold;)

Hi Brian

Also check out the black rapid, I use one of these and its a neck saver even with a gripped 7D complete with one of my long lenses on..

Just checked that out Mark and it attaches to the tripod fixing point, I have my monopod attached to the lens mount and if I fit this type of strap to my camera I doubt my D80 could handle the weight of the lens.

Thanks for the suggestion though and the helps appreciated:)

Is that with the sigma strap on the tripod foot?

If so, I used the pads off an old lowepro shoulder bag strap on mine when I had the 120-300mm. Made it so much more comfortable

You got it:thumbs:

It's only a thin strap fitted to the bottom of the lens, I wear it round my neck so if I slip or fall I've got my hands free and hopefully where I try and keep my head up the camera won't hit the floor:eek:

I was hoping I could buy some sort of pad that velcro'd round the sigma strap giving it bit more comfort, just not found anything yet, not even on ebay:shake:

Something like this?

Or maybe a guitar strap pad

Have you got a jessops or jacobs nearby? Might be worth checking if any of their cheap shoulder bags have a pad that you could remove and use on your strap.

Thanks for the links/tips Richard:thumbs:

I'd only come up with the padded bits Halfords sell the boy racers for their seat belts.

Will look into them and cheers

I think I just did a quick google for 'padded shoulder strap'

There were a couple of complete straps that had removable pads on too - so there are options.

Black Rapid is all very well, but knowing how the tripod foot on that lens works I don't think it would be a very good fit.

Mine was the same and the only solution I found was a seperate shoulder pad rather than a new strap solution. I looked at black rapid.
