i was looking for some ND filters and came across X-Pro series from Cokin, they seem to be 4 times as expensive as regular Cokins.. just what are you paying the extra for?? and are they worth it??
Do any of you guys use the x-pro's??

The X-Pro ones are more expensive as they are far bigger. They are designed for medium/Large format and video cameras. Coking also make a Z-Pro range which are the same size as the Lee ones I use. The larger filer kits are usefull if your using super wide angle lenses as they are less likely to vignette.

Have a look for the hi-tech filters. Supposed to be very good quality and cheaper than the lee or cokin offerings.

There is a rumour they come from the same factory as the Lee ones!

ok thx guys.. i saw them on warehouse express under the P size.. i assumed they were the size i used.. never mind..

I shall have a look for the Z-pro and see what their all about.. and the Hi-Tech ones.. i like cheap!!

I bought a set of Hitech filters from HERE I got a set of 100mm nd's and a set of 100mm nd grads plus the lee filter holder and adapter ring.....Can't remember exactly what I paid and don't know if they are the cheapest place to buy from but the service was exceptional. AND the filters are very good too!
Ken.

The cokin nd grads are supposed to have a magenta cast to them.

I bought the Hi Tech filters straight from the manufacturer http://www.formatt.co.uk/stills-filters/products.aspx they seem good value.

I got the 85mm to match the cokin p holder, but if I was buying them again I would go for the 100mm size as the 85mm is not quite big enough for my 10-22mm lens, however you can buy a wide angle adapter which has just one filter slot instead of 2, so I might give that a try.

Another vote for the Hi Tech here. You just need to be aware that they're a bit of a snug fit in a Cokin filter holder
